Gotta admit, I’m kind of sick of zombie fiction, but I like the concept you have here. Writing is very good and the point of view is fantastic.
If I were to make a suggestion, it might be to cut the creature giving itself a name. I’ve only read the first chapter so far, so maybe that plays a bigger part and needs to stay in, but I felt like the fact the creature could name itself took away some of the enticing mystery you’d been building up.
Otherwise--and even with the Dave part--good stuff.
