Hope you all are doing well. It has been over a year now since I first came to this site hoping to finally make something off of a lifetime dream. It has been a rocky road and is taking longer than the goal I had set for myself but, what good thing comes easy? There have been times that I wonder if I’m not crazy for trying to do this and imagining this will work. Setbacks, especially recently, from getting laid off for a few months and scrambling for a new one to my anxiety catching me when I’m stuck on a particular part and has had me struggling to push forward. Yet, this world of mine continues to grow. I think about the characters and the world constantly and keep building on this story and (sometimes scrambling for a post-it note or my journal to quickly write something down) making it into something.
I’m inspired by many of you as I see your own stories and struggles and yet you continued to push and back and fight and now some of you are reaping that reward as your dream has come true and you getting published!
So as I sit down to write today I want to say thank you :)
Hello everyone Hope everyone is well as summer begins to kick into gear. A new contest has taken over Inkshares and I’ve been blown away by some of what has been entered already. I thought about putting up one of my sci-fi stories myself but decided to keep focusing on this story for now though I’m really looking forward to reading more from those who have entered.
As for how Spark is going every time, I add some more to the book or the world it is both a thrill and ever increasing source of anxiety. I can’t wait for you all to step into this world and I hope you love it as much as I do. The more I build upon the world, the more excited I get as there are so many stories, characters and places and their histories that i want to share with you all. I’m not sure how much of this you’ll see in this book but I hope you’ll at least be able to tell how alive this world is and that it immerses you right in like it has done to me. Afterall...it’s all going in my notes...and who’s to say we cant revisit Vesceria in more books ;).
For now, though my focus is on this book and this story and making it the best that I can. Which means I’ve got a lot of writing to do haha! Have a good summer everyone! :)

Hello! *raises from the muck* Good news! I’ve finally made it out of that muck and pushed through the block that has been stopping me from finishing two chapters! Still needs some editing to be sure (a lot of temp names ;) ) but now I ’m back on the track the story is flowing again!
I can’t wait to share with you all both what’s in these chapters and the chapters to come. So much more to see and characters to meet (including my personal favorites). I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

Hello all of you glorious people :P I’ve been quiet lately but still pushing along over here. November helped me push through some ideas due to NaNoWriMo which was great but i slowed down again to flesh out some other world stuff before i continue again and between being busy with work with the holidays around the corner and a mounting star wars hype...its hard to keep a decent pace. I’m still going though and I’ll be able to do more once i get on break for Christmas and will have no stuff to show off shortly after that.
Now I know I’m not going for orders at the moment but if you all could continue to share with your friends that’d be great. Thanks again and I’ll be talking with you all soon :) Happy Holidays. -Jacob
As you all know the contest has come to an end and today my campaign ends. Although I didn’t get a lot of orders the support and encouragement that I got was amazing. Those of you who actually did order a copy I cant express what that means even though I didn’t make it. This contest was full of amazing stories and I was glad to be a part of it. Admittedly, I wasn’t ready for it but it was certainly a learning experience I will use in the future. So what does this mean for me and my book? Only that my dream will take a little longer. I’m going to keep writing this story and when I believe I’m ready I’ll try again. Shadow demons aren’t the only thing that can return with a vengeance. Sorry....lame joke :P
So whats next then? I’m going to focus on finishing the book. Occasionally, I’ll still post here and give you all an update of what I’m doing (next week I’m thinking about making a post of the Qivar hierarchy). What a great month to make some progress too right? I didn’t know about NaNoWriMo but I’m doing my best to catch up for my late start. Also as my small social circle didn’t yield anything and my attempts of advertising outside of it didn’t do much, i’ll be trying to figure out a plan on how to spread the word better. If anyone has any options or advice on that they’d like to share please let me know.

We only have a few orders which means I won’t be making it HOWEVER if we can gather up some steam I can go ahead and extend it. I only want to extend if I can get momentum going. Hello everyone! Chapter 2 is finally here! I meant to have it up sooner but past two weekends I’ve been too sick to look at a computer screen for longer then 20 minutes. Where is a healing spell when you need it? Anyway... I’ve recovered and have posted it for everyone to check out. :)
This chapter picks up right where Varren and Shaira left off. You’ll get to learn more about Shaira and what drives her in this chapter. After the positive response I’ve gotten from Varren and Golroc I really hope you guys enjoy her just as much.

Hello everyone! Thought it was about time for my first update after a good weekend. :) I made some edits to the prologue last week and put up Chapter 1 at the end of the week. The response from these was great with three recommendations. I couldn’t stop grinning knowing people were loving what I was almost to nervous to post (seriously was siting at the computer hovering over the button to post for like an hour). Since then followers went up from about 11 to 23! I was even trending on the front page (dont know what it takes to do that but it was cool anyway :P). While still no where near the goal and only two order it was fantastic to get a response like that in about a day or two. Since then I’ve used the feedback to make some needed edits, including some additions that expand certain parts a little, to both chapter 1 and the prologue. Check those out if you haven’t already.
Please continue to help me make this dream come true and share this around as much as you can!
I also have a question for you all. What is it that prompts you to go from following to actually ordering? With my followers growing but order not really changing I want to know what I can do to entice you further. Is it simply you want to see more chapters before you decide (chapter 2 coming soon btw)? Do you want to know more about the characters? Whatever it is let me know so we can start getting the ball rolling.
