The Sovereign Queen, who came into existence at the same time the universe began, is revered as the mother of all life. A vicious ruler of a warlike planet schemes to usurp the Sovereign Queen with a plan passed on down his lineage over the past 1000 years. A small group of misfits find themselves being pushed deeper towards the center of this takeover and must decide if they should flee the danger with a slim chance of survival or defy the bloodthirsty king where their odds of survival are not at all favorable.

The Sovereign Queen is quite different from what I normally fantasize about in that I mostly dream in science fiction where things need to be explained in a rational, or seemingly rational, manner that works within the scope of the story. I usually try to create worlds and technology that people can read and think to themselves, "Yeah, I can see that possibly happening in the not too distant future". Not this time. I threw most of that out the window and developed a new approach entirely where I no longer asked myself "How can I make this believable" and instead asked "Hey, wouldn’t it be fun if we did this?"

Inspiration for The Sovereign Queen comes from many places spanning literature, TV, movies and even music. My main goal with this book, however, is to try and tap into something that seems to have fizzled out, at least in TV and movies of recent and that’s to create a sci-fi fairy tale like the ones that I grew up with. I hope to capture that feel where science fiction and fantasy meld, where the impossible is possible and where losers live out their daydreams to rise up and become unconventional but humble heroes in a way that only they ever could. On this, I aim to deliver and I hope that you’ll join me on this journey through the universe of The Sovereign Queen.
