Chapter 1: Questions

I stand in front of the abandoned twelve-story building, holding the flyer, feeling terrified as I walk up to the battered doors, gather a deep breath and pull open the door. The air is dusty, and everything is warped and faded, I start to walk onward and notice that little to no dust has been disturbed here, then I notice them, the doors. One orange, and one green, I turn to leave but the door has been replaced with the message ‘The question still needs to be answered, Ky’, so I turn back to face the doors. I decide to go through to the orange door seeing that I utterly hate the color green, I step through and first notice a banana sitting on a bright neon pink floor, with some sort of sable brown fur or something drifting gently down from the ceiling.

I look up to see a giant gorilla falling toward me. I turned to run from the room but again the door is gone and so is the gorilla, the only thing left in the area was a deep black table. On the battered table were merely a used pen and a used crystal with an odd note ‘Pick one to rule, choose one to allegedly live. There is a resounding crash behind me and in my haste I grab both and turn to face whatever just crashed, it’s the gorilla he’s just staring at me with a table just in from of him with a net and strangely enough a polished brass door handle with another notecard ‘Choose wisely or meet a grizzly fate.’The gorilla charges at me and I run to the handle and pull as hard as I can, and then I’m falling with something else is falling towards me too. As it falls, coming closer I can see it has no face, and yet I still hear it whisper even without a mouth.

“Be careful little one, the faceless king draws near and he perceives that your here.” with those dying words voiced the unknown being forcibly dissolves into a thousand white moths. I fall hard and flat against a rigid reflective surface, and I scarcely heard it ding and then the dismal groan of something irretrievably lost from times gaze but not from its raw rage. It steps out, and it’s made of bones and clothed in a horrifying set of “clothes” made of the living flesh of people all screaming and trying to get free and break away from the others. It aggressively looks at me and then I’m back in the gloomy lobby of the abandoned building where I first came in but the battered door is conspicuously missing and in its used place is, in contrast, a shining silver elevator, I experience an overwhelming sense of ominous foreboding as I inexplicably find the elevator is gradually making its perverse way down to my gritty floor, until I’m cowering with abject fear behind an overturned table, the elevator dings ominously, and out steps a hulking monstrosity of an unknown man, next to him is, in contrast, a squatter man but still he looks like the keenest man in the dreary room.

“Alright, who are ya and what, do you want?” the compact man barked at me, in the dull light of the elevator I could regard him better and he merely had a stubby beard and bristly mustache, and he was wearing a dark green coat with a decent dress shirt.

“Um, I’m Kyle, I saw precisely your typical ad in the published paper?” I notice that this is the first time I’ve spoken in my continuous time in this building, my voice rusty with disuse. I stand awkwardly and awkwardly try to look furtively at both the men better.

The man shakes his head, “No I do know this, you idiot. I mean why you came, tells me now before I get angry, now get out from behind that table?”

“Look, dear sir,  I desperately need to find out who I am, I saw favorably the flyer and it said fortunately that you could undoubtedly help.”

“Kid, that’s all any of us are trying to do,” The man’s husky voice gets kinder for a moment“ look kid I don’t know how or when but you’ll get those memories back, but you might not like what you’ll uncover.”

I step around from the table, “What do I dub you?” as I hesitantly step forward a little.

“Call me Ronny, and the burly guy is properly Phill, now I merely need you to merely step into the private elevator with us I’ll transport you to Rick, he’s kinda the head of this odd place.” I step into the private elevator with a thundering heart and watch as Ronny steps back in and forcefully push the appropriate button for the top floor and wait tensely.
