The concept is extremely both intriguing and exciting. Just a few lines of reading and you’re already hooked to the demon’s personnality! I am definitely following this one!

Just a few things before I go…

I truly appreciate everyone who’s preordered, followed, commented, reviewed, and just generally been pretty darned awesome on here! As a thank you, I’d like to give you a book!

I’ve made the first book in my time travel series, Knot in Time, FREE for kindle or kindle app users through the 21st. You can download it here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A6X9U84

In addition, I’d like to offer an electronic version of The Devil You Know (when it is finished and edited) to anyone who subscribes to my mailing list. If you haven’t already, you can sign up for that here: http://eepurl.com/-zM9X

To folks who’ve recently preordered and were hoping/expecting for an "order-back" on your book or project, I sincerely apologize for not being able to reciprocate at this time. You will, however, be receiving your money or credits back soon when the funding period for The Devil You Know ends shortly. I will not be looking to extend the funding period. I wish all of you the absolute best of luck in the Nerdist Space Opera contest, or general funding of your projects. Regardless of how you end up, treat this as a learning experience and be better for it. I know I have!

Lastly, I’ve partnered with a group of over 80 authors to offer over 100 books on sale or free until the 21st. Tons of SciFi and Fantasy works for all ages available. You can find the complete listing on my blog here: https://motherearthseries.wordpress.com/2016/02/17/a-scififantasy-extravaganza/ (apologies for the third column being cut short, html and I are having a disagreement this morning :-/)

Thank you, one and all, and Happy Reading!

Apologies all! The link to sign up for my newsletter in yesterday's update was missing a character. (This is why everyone needs a good editor!) Here is the correct link:

Special thanks to Dianna for the catch!

Greetings once again fellow adventurers! Through no fault of my own ;-) we've passed the 30 order mark and it's time for our third Amazon Gift Card drawing!

The Devil You Know is progressing along nicely now after things slowed down around the holidays and the Sword and Laser contest. I'm working on Chapter 30 at the moment (strangely synergistic) and am closing in on 70,000 words, with probably 40-50 thousand more to go for this first draft. This project has proceeded much slower than I'd planned, but I hope the extra time spent will produce a better product in the end.

If you haven't subscribed to my newsletter for further updates after we bid a fond farewell to the Inkshares platform in about a month, please consider doing so by clicking here: http://eepurl.com/zM9X

And now, the random number generator says… "8"! That order belongs to fellow Inkshares novelist, Joseph Terzieva! Congrats, Joseph, you're now the proud owner of a $10 Amazon Gift Card. Please contact me with the email address you'd like it sent to :-D

Thanks again to all who've ordered! I appreciate the support each and every one of you have shown! And here's hoping that silly groundhog foresees an early end to winter in a few days.

Alan

Greetings once again fellow scifi/fantasy/adventure enthusiasts!

We're nearing the end of the Sword and Laser contest and the odds of The Devil You Know making into the top three are only slightly better than those of any of us taking home the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday ;-)

However! Never fear good readers, I fully plan to publish The Devil You Know once it's finished and edited in the next few months. I've put too much into this story to give up on it now. If you'd like to receive updates on its progress and publication, please subscribe to my email list by clicking the link below. I promise I won't be spamming your inbox!

You can also find my previous works — I have two series, one fantasy and one scifi — at http://www.alantucker.net

I want to sincerely thank everyone who's followed and ordered the book on this platform. Your support means the world to me and is a huge incentive to continue writing. Inkshares has a burgeoning and supportive community and I'm proud to call myself a part of it. I wish all the authors and participants the best of luck as we venture into 2016 and beyond!

Happy Reading Everyone!

Happy Holidays All!

We reached our second goal (20 readers!) and it's time for our second $10 Amazon Gift Card drawing! Before I announce the winner, here's some awesome stuff that's been happening recently:

The first InkShares Read-A-Thon was a smashing success! Many reviews were written and many prizes were won. (Yours truly picked up a copy of Scrivener for Mac and I am loving it so far!) Special thanks to A.C. Weston for all her hard work in organizing this! The Devil You Know picked up several reviews and I'd like to thank those folks by highlighting them here.

Dave Barrett, author of It's All Fun and Games and winner of the Nerdist competition had this to say:

Is it wrong for me to think that a demon named Pus Drinker is just about the best thing ever? Combine the morals of, well, a demon with the enforced playlist that makes me think of Iron Man taking over everyone's speakers in the Avengers sure seems the best thing ever to me, that's for sure. Go Pus Drinker!

Craig Munro, author of Bones of the Past, wrote:

A new twist on the post-apocalyptic world - Plagues, aliens, and demonic possession! I already have a soft spot for Pus Drinker. Come on people - Get this book funded so I can read the whole thing!

…This promises to be a heartbreaking story of a man trying to find redemption and meaning in a world that has lost so much shortly after discovering we are not alone in the universe. There are interesting parallels between the aliens inhabiting the earth and the demon inhabiting Abraham's mind. An interesting take on the post-plague story.

And Joshua Griffith, author of several works, including The Second Coming of Hell writes:

This book is a fun read and it had me hooked immediately. Aliens, demon possession, and magick, what a delightful read this one is and I highly recommend this one to those who enjoy a good end of the world story that shows the human race isn't out of the frying pan yet.

Thanks to all these wonderful writers who took the time to read through my excerpts and leave these fantastic reviews! Go check out their work if you haven't already.

In addition, The Devil You Know was selected as the book of the month by the Snarky Dark Fantasy Syndicate, led by C. Brenneke! If you're unfamiliar with syndicates, they are like book clubs, choosing to support an InkShares project each month. Go check them out and find more awesome reads!

Lastly, I'll be posting Chapter 3 in the next day or two for your reading pleasure. Be sure to have a look and let me know what you think.

All right, here we go! ***drumroll*** The random/dice/magical number generator says… 14!  Linda, you're the winner of our second $10 Amazon Gift card! Congratulations! Contact me with the email address you'd like it sent to and it will be on its way!

Peace out and Happy Holidays all! I'll see you again at reader #30!

We've reached our first 10 readers and our first $10 Amazon Gift Card!

Before I reveal the winner, something came up this week that I want to share with you:
Get ready for the inaugural Inkshares Review-a-Thon!
On December 19th, all authors and readers are invited to leave reviews on currently funding Inkshares books using the Inkshares "leave a review" option. Throughout the day we'll be hanging out on Twitter in the #InksharesReviews tag as we share our favorite book projects, answer author Q&As, debate the merits of astronauts with swords versus cavemen with lasers, and more! Then, from 6 - 8pm ET, JF Dubeau and Paul Inman of the WriteBrain Podcast will be hosting a video livestream filled with author interviews, review readings, and live announcements of prize winners!

Prizes?!?! Everyone who leaves a review on December 19th by 6pm ET will be eligible to win one of our fantastic general prizes:
  • Sword & Laser Contest Winners Package - print copies of the six winning books from the Sword & Laser Inkshares contest!
  • Nerdist Contest Winners Package - print copies of the five winning books from the Nerdist Inkshares contest!
  • An immediate pre-order of the book of their choice for five winners!
  • $30 in Inkshares credits!
Readers: Peruse the "currently funding" books on Inkshares and leave as many reviews as you want on Dec 19th. You could even start up a "must-have" list of books to order in case you win a free pre-order or the $30 in credits! Authors: Join our review exchange to leave three reviews in exchange for two guaranteed reviews on your Inkshares project and a chance at author-exclusive prizes! Email cara.c.weston@gmail.com to learn more and get on the list. It's gonna be fun.

Sounds awesome, right? Be sure to carve out a small block of time on the 19th to leave a review and earn a chance to win one of those prizes!

Speaking of prizes… *drumroll* Our first $10 Amazon gift card winner is…
  • Joseph Terzieva!

Congrats Joseph! Email me at atucker@maddesignmt.com with details of where (email address) I can send your gift card.

For the rest of you, don't despair. This was only the first of what I hope are many, many chances to win. Keep sending out those recommendations and sharing the Inkshares information. Every 10 readers, you'll be eligible again to win! Thank you all and take care until next time :-)

Greetings and Happy Holidays to Everyone!

First of all, I want to thank those of you who have pre-ordered already. I truly appreciate your willingness to take a chance on a nearly unknown author. I've supported several on this site as well through credits and hard-earned cash and know it can be a difficult decision to plunk down $10 or more for something that is pie in the sky at this point.

To that end, I'd like to make that decision easier on all of you! Henceforth, for every 10 preorders The Devil You Know garners, I'll be giving away a $10 Amazon.com gift card to one of my lucky pre-orderers!

So, the earlier you order the book, the more chances you'll have to get that $10 back in the form of a gift card. And, the more you share and recommend The Devil You Know, the more Inkshares credits you'll earn to spend on some of the other fabulous works lurking about on this site. Everybody wins!

I've watched Sword and Laser videos and been a member of their GoodReads group for a couple of years now and I love what Tom and Veronica do. If you aren't familiar with them, please take a moment to check out their YouTube channel or have a listen to their podcasts. They are huge supporters of Science Fiction and Fantasy literature and it would mean a great deal to me to be selected by their group for publishing. Many people have read my other works and enjoyed them and I feel like what I need to take the next step is the eyes of a bigger audience. This contest is currently my best opportunity for that and I hope you'll join me on this journey, because I can't get there without you!

The next time you'll hear from me is when we get to 10 and I'm announcing the first gift card winner! Fingers crossed for all of you! Good luck and, again, Happy Holidays!

Greetings Everyone!

A couple of months ago, I stepped into Inkshares without truly understanding the site, how it worked, or its potential. It's a terrific platform which I took too long to appreciate and allowed to languish as a result. My plan had been to allow The Devil You Know to quietly slip past its funding deadline and simply self-publish it after I'd finished the editing process.

Then, yesterday, Inkshares announced a new contest in association with Sword and Laser. I've been a fan of their podcast and the GoodReads group for a couple of years and thought it would be really fun to be a part of that awesome collection of nerds *proudly waves nerd flag* and so I decided to my hat, er, book in the ring.

The contest runs until January 15. The top three backed projects will be considered by the good folks at Sword and Laser for publication and promotion by the group.

So, here's where you come in. Those of you who had already backed The Devil You Know should have received your credits and/or money back last night or this morning as everyone participating in the contest has to start fresh. My hope is that you liked either the concept or my writing enough to throw your support back in for this 45 day push.

To those of you who've followed, but not ordered yet, I ask you to simply let me know what would tip the scales for you. Would you like to see more chapters? Do you want to know more about me? Is there something that turned you off within the description or the writing? I'm all ears. Feel free to express any opinion.

Starting today, my goal is to accumulate as many credits as I can and begin supporting my fellow authors and contest participants. A rising tide lifts all boats. You won't hear from me in this fashion often. I don't want to spam your inbox. But know that I'm grateful for every follow, comment, share, and order! Readers are the reason I write. Thank you!

I wanted to offer a quick "Thank you!" to those who have followed thus far. It's always fun and exciting to reach new readers! I've uploaded the second chapter, introducing the other main character: Neri White. Look it over when you have time and please feel free to ask questions, if you have them, or share with your friends.
