I’m still here and The Agoge is still alive. I’m thinking about shopping it around to some agents, I was writing it while I was submitting The Road To Hell to every agent I could find, which wasn’t a lot. I was hoping it would gain a little traction and a lot more followers since the final sample chapter went up but it’s not doing much. I’m starting to kind of figure out this new fangled thing called Twitter, I don’t know if it’ll help but it’s worth a try.
So Chapter 11 is up and this marks the halfway point, and the final sample chapter, for The Agoge. There are still plenty of big events and of course the climax of the book ahead, but if you wanna see them I need to get it published. So if you know anyone who might like this send them in.
I’m not sure how regular my updates are going to be for The Agoge, going forward, because I’ve got part of the sequel outlined but a lot of my writing attention is currently on the outline for the next Battle Flag book. But, if The Agoge wound up with a thousand followers I would open up preorders in a second.
I’ll still answer any ideas or critiques you may have just let me know.
The big possibly spoilery news is that in this next chapter you get finally get to meet the bad guys. The Arzhei are here and, when I wrote them, I kind of had Paul Frees’ Ghost Host from Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion in my head, so Tarmior and Evashion will undoubtedly come off sounding similar. I kind of like it and think that maybe I should write a book where everybody talks like that. :)
So I took a deeper look this week at how many chapters the book actually has and found that the mid point is Chapter 11. So after this there will be two more samples before I cut it off. But this is good because before the cut off it’ll get more into Danny’s romance and start to build toward the finale. It’s fixin’ to get into some fun stuff.
So Chapter 8 is up for reading. This brings an end to my original plan for the Agoge’s sample chapters. I’m pretty sure this is about the halfway point of the book, but I’m not sure, so if you want to see some more chapters let me know.
So an early update with Chapter 6, due to vacation. This one I’m a little unhappy with the way it rolled out but then again anytime I look at one of my chapters I tend to nitpick it so any feedback is welcome.
Chapter 5: Brand New Hero is up and ready for reading.
Let me know what you think and, if you could pass the word to any friends you’ve got, I could use a lot of help driving followers to this project. Anything you can do would be appreciated but if there’s nothing you can do that’s fine too. I’m treating this with a bit of a slow burn mentality and if I don’t get another follower for months on end I’m not gonna stress about it.
Well Chapter 4 - A Moment Of Violence is up now. I’ve got a bunch of sample chapters prepared to go up and I’m going to release a new one every Friday. This way I can get it done along with the chapter releases for Battle Flag: The Road To Hell.
My plan was to release up through Chapter 8 - The Wizard, thinking that that was pretty much the middle of the book, but now it doesn’t look like it so I may go a bit farther than that.
Anyway, enjoy Chapter 4 and remember any and all feedback is welcome.
So I’ve been working on a new outline for my Battle Flag series which has taken up a lot of time. However, this weekend I plan to pull together a bunch of sample chapters for The Agoge and, hopefully, release them on a similar schedule to Battle Flag samples, roughly every Friday or maybe I’ll do Mondays, we’ll see. Both books are done so I have to go in and copy out each chapter which is a little time consuming. There’s probably a better way to do it and I’ll be experimenting with that over the weekend. So there will probably be a new sample chapter come Monday but I make no promises.
So Chapters 2 & 3 are up now. I don’t know how far into the book I’ll take the sample chapters but it will go at least to the chapter entitled "The Wizard" which brings in a lot of explanation for what is going on. I don’t know if I’ll drop a bunch of them or just a few but, unlike what I did with Battle Flag, they will all be inline with each other, no jumping around the book.
