Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snicket, author of A Series of Unfortunate Events
A rush of missing sisters, supernatural powers, breathless crushes, ancient prophecies and deadly secrets revealed at glamorous parties...spooky and fun!
Erica Lorraine Scheidt, author of Uses for Boys
Sparked is that rare thing—a gripping mystery with psychological depth. It’s a hauntingly accurate portrayal of the complex relationships between sisters and the lengths that the younger will go to save her older sister. I was riveted from the beginning and hooked to the satisfying end.
Katie Crouch, author of New York Times bestseller Girls in Trucks and The Magnolia League series
Sparked is a masterful mélange of action, the supernatural, and teen romance. Every character is unique and every twist is unexpected. The story, told with wit and candor, just kept accelerating until its rip-roaring ending. I tore through this book.

“In the end, only one book could walk away from this fantasy free-for-all with the Geek & Sundry emblem emblazoned upon its coat. You agreed that this was the best of an awe-inspiring collection of talent and creativity. Where many stories took you to new lands, this one took you back to highschool with a missing sister and some of the meanest super-powered teens around. Sparked stood out from the rest by bringing fantasy home to many readers.”

This book has me hooked. I need to know what happened to Ivy?

Sparked has you instantly connect with the main character in just the first chapter. By the time you finish the third you feel like you know her and understand her panic. Its is already drawing me into the mystery and we haven't even seen the powers yet

The pacing of this story is perfect and makes you really feel the panic that Laurel must be going through when she finds out her sister is missing or the sheer disappointment when none of the adults believe her. The writing grips you in a way that you feel like you’re the one going from place to place trying to uncover the mystery (weird experience as a 29 year old man). It’s time to immerse yourself in this world that Ms. Echlin and Ms. Watrous have created! I can’t even begin to explain to you how awesome the flow of this story is! If you want your eyeballs to experience writing ecstasy, it’s time to figure out what the hype is about and why this book already has almost 500 preorders. Check out Sparked!

While Sparked may be in the young adult genre, the work itself is on a more elevated tone, bringing great character dynamics, opposing forces, and vivid imagery which make the work jump off the page. I was immediately engaged in the work itself and wanted to know more. I can't wait to read on.

This is such a fun, intriguing premise and truly the perfect entry for the Geek & Sundry competition! The Lenas have something really special here and I'm looking forward to reading the book in its entirety when they hit their publishing goal. :)
