Discussion

Hello Inkshare pals.

I want to apologize for how absent I’ve been this month. I wish I could say it was because the contest ended, but it’s actually worse than that.

A few weeks ago I was informed by the police that my father had passed away alone in his apartment. He was only 56. Needless to say, SideScroller got stuffed into the backseat, making way for funeral preparations and estate management and all that fun stuff. I’m still in the midst of settling all his affairs as we speak.

However, I felt I owed it to all of you to at least give you an update as to where I’ve been & what I’ve been doing. Every once in a while I still hand out SideScroller flyers around the city of Toronto, but it’ll be a while before I can get back in the saddle and take those reins properly.

Until that time comes, I just want to say to all of you: THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart, for all the support you’ve given to me and my little book. Every time I saw SideScroller get pre-ordered my face lit up like a Christmas tree.

Now, I’m gonna finish settling all the estate business, get back to writing, and make Dad proud.

Cheers,

Andrew Fantasia

Well, ladies & gents, it’s been an action-packed 45 days. In that short span of time, I found myself campaigning on social media, rapping in book trailers, scattering SideScroller adverts all over the city of Toronto, and (surprisingly) being accused of being in league with Voldemort (which I can still neither confirm nor deny).

The video game contest has come to an end, and my final ranking is 8th place. All I can say is...thank you. All of you. I may not have won, but I was part of something crazy & wild, something I’d always dreamed to be a part of. And I never could have gotten here without the support of every one of you crazy kids! (Also, 8 is totally my favourite number, so there’s that!)

Special shout-outs go to fellow Inksharians James Rasile and Tabi Card, for all their technical help, support, beautiful graphics, and gracious advice, and to Robin Williams for filming my book trailers. I’ve also got to thank Prescott Harvey, Regina McNemony, and Peter Ryan; all three of them were kind & supportive to me throughout this contest, even though their own awesome works were also currently in the running. And thanks to the Inkvengers for their podcast shout-out as well. All in all, I’m proud to have come in 8th when the people ranked above me are such admirable, excellent wordsmiths. Congrats to everyone who competed. Pat yourself on the back; whether you win or not, YOU WROTE A BOOK. Let that sink in, homies. You made something special out of nothing. And that’s ALWAYS a win.

Of course, then there’s YOU: you, who pre-ordered SideScroller and helped a brother try to achieve his dreams. You, who put your faith in a book that exists solely in a small, lonely Word file on my crappy Sony Vaio. You, who clicked on a little green button and literally MADE MY DAY. Thank you. Your love & support is appreciated more than I could possibly say.

So, the contest is done. But SideScroller can still be pre-ordered for another 40 days. We can still get this book past its Quill goal and out into the world. If you haven’t ordered yet, now’s your chance. Like any good video game character, SideScroller’s still got a few lives left in her before the screen goes blank.

CONTINUE?...3...2...1...

I met Andrew Fantasia in college. I  spent a lot of time with him both in the classroom, and at social hangouts. I have to say, I never met anymore more dedicated to their craft. During hangouts he would of tell me about a book he was working on. Sharing with me ideas and characters he had in this book.  I knew with his wit and talent,  this guy was going to be a great writer. I look forward to reading the completed version of his work.

Congrats Fantasia!

Hey, SideScroller readers! I promised you a surprise. And I’m about to deliver.

See this link right over here?  ----->;;; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUDKs-LuZ34&feature=youtu.be

This will take you to a YouTube video advertising both SideScroller and the Inkshares process itself. Share it with your friends and enemies until it spreads like sexually-transmitted wildfire! SideScroller is coming back with a vengeance.

Thanks for all your continued support, gang. Let’s get scrollin’...

Hi, everyone!

I promised a neat little SideScroller surprise last weekend, and unfortunately it’s not quite ready yet. It’s still in the last few stages of post-production, but I hope to have it to you ASAP.
In the meantime, I just wanted to thank y’all for your support, patience, and overall greatness.
In particular, fellow Inkshares users Tabi Card, Evan Graham, and James Rasile. I never could have gotten HALF this far without their help, advice, and web-savvy skillz (I spelled ’skills’ with a Z because their skills are literally too good for a mere ’S’). They’re also supremely gifted folks when it comes to weaving words and I can’t urge you enough to check out their works Scirbbles, Tantalus Depths, and Cape’s Side Bay, respectively.

I may have dropped to low rankings in the contest, but it ain’t over till it’s over, and hopefully my upcoming surprise will rectify this! So stay tuned, folks, and thanks again for all the help!

A swashbuckling world that operates under the crazy rules of video games? As if love in the real world was not hard enough! Spryte & Pixel, I’m rooting for ya, and excited to find out if you make it to the next level! Looking forward to learning more @Andrew Fantasia !

Hi, everybody! Just a quick little tangent today.

SideScroller has fallen down the ranks from 3rd to 6th! The competition in this contest just got real in a scary way, but I could never have gotten this far at all if not for you, so thanks again for all your help and pre-orders! (I’ve got a little surprise coming soon for all of you, something that’ll hopefully get more butts in the SideScroller seats). Should hopefully have it ready this weekend.

In the meantime, I want to talk about a new Inkshares book I’ve discovered: "Tantalus Depths", by Evan Graham. This dude looks like he’s taking hard sci-fi to the next level. You like creepy, ancient planets? He’s got ’em. You like artificial intelligence that grows and thinks and adapts? He’s got it. You like fantastic, eldritch terrors from beyond our realm of reasoning? Then why are you still reading this? Go check out Tantalus Depths and pre-order a copy.

Till next time, have a great day, and stay tuned to the SideScroller page later this week for my special surprise!

Hello, Inkshare homies!

Just wanted to extend a HUGE thanks to all of you for your support thus far! The video game contest is chugging along nicely and I couldn’t have done it without your help!

Also, today is June 8th...it’s my BIRTHDAY!!! I’m 29 years young. To be honest, I miss 28. 28 is a nice, round, sexy number, with lots of swirls and curls. 29 is different and jarring; it feels like I’m in the middle of a gunfight and I’m down to one last bullet, with a giant 3-0 looming ominously on the horizon, waiting for me to empty my clip so it can swallow me whole! But regardless, YOU can help make my birthday fantastic my spreading the word about SideScroller to anyone you know who loves reading or video games or reading things ABOUT video games.

Thanks again for your support, everybody, and I’ve got more SideScroller surprises coming soon!

Cheers,

Andrew Fantasia

BREAK UP. MAKE UP. LEVEL UP.

SideScroller is now live and ready to be pre-ordered! Seeing one of my works published would be a dream come true.

So let’s slip our quarters into the arcade machine, press Start, and grab this video game contest by the cojones!

Cheers,

Andrew Fantasia

The video game contest is in one day! To celebrate, I’m going streaking through my hometown!

To celebrate in an even BETTER way, I present to you all the new book cover for SideScroller! (I’m computer-illiterate, so I have no idea how to post the cover into this message. But you can just visit the SideScroller page to check it out in all it’s fiery glory!)

I can’t take any credit for the beautiful artwork, though. That’s all thanks to fellow Inksharian (is that a word? I’m making it one) and talented writer, Tabi Card. Check out Tabi’s page, particularly her book "Scribbles"! You rock, Tabi!

I’ll see you tomorrow for the launch of the contest! Thanks so much for following SideScroller. I can’t wait to show you what happens in it.
