The day was our 50th Wedding anniversary. The party was beautiful and wonderful because all of our old friends and some new ones were there. The only one missing was my son Tom. He had just died a few days earlier, and he wanted so much to be at the party. Well perhaps he was there in spirit only, but we missed him. A physical presence is felt and missed when the the person dies. I almost felt like calling everything off.

When you’re old wedding ring was new.
And the dream that we dreamed came true.
I remember with pride, as you stood by my side,
what a beautiful picture you made as my bride.
And although silver crowns your hair,
I can still see the lovely ringlets there.
And the dreams are the same
as the day I changed your name.
When your wedding ring was new.

This beautiful song was sung by my cousin Sally at our 50th anniversary party. Today it is one of my beautiful memories. My cousin passed away several years ago and I miss her. Most of my old relatives are gone by now. All that is left is old memories.
