The small window we see in the world Of Ashes is compelling and well written. Though it only sets the scene for the larger story, what we are given makes me want to read more. So much mystery lies ahead in the story and I look forward to reading more.

You've done a great job of setting up the story very succinctly and it reads well. Just one thought about the catheter (as a nurse who has looked after catatonic patients, one of whom was post-partum and died of a massive pulmonary embolism) is none of them were ever catheterised, either during the day or at night time. Not sure if you want to keep that bit or not.But if you want any tidbits or to run some hospital based stuff by me, please feel free anytime.

this interests as a nurse who has spent a few years working in a psych ward, and ended up working with children. The writing is clear and natural. I'm curious where this is going.

Short and sweet, this tasty treat has me craving for more. The writing depicts a vivid premise and contains dynamic characters. Although, such are the sort you'd expect to find in a psychiatric ward!
