Discussion

Hello to our faithful followers,

I would like to first start off with a heartfelt thanks for sticking with us. We are just a month and a half into 2018 and there was so much going on in such a short time. I had to visit the ER twice (in January) and dealt with health issues which may or may not have been caused by my job being a high school teacher. Though speaking of being a teacher, I recently also found out that I am not being renewed for next year, which was a devastating blow to my self esteem and health. So in addition to working on New Beginnings, I now have to look for another job in a different district. Though for some good news... I AM GETTING MARRIED. Sorry, I am just over the moon about my upcoming wedding in March, so that took some time away from writing, though I will be sneaking in some writing time during the honeymoon. Kelly has had a few stressful months at work due to people leaving the company which increases her workload, though she has a prospect that offers her less stress and more benefits in which she might make the switch. Fingers-crossed.

However, don’t think that is going to stop us. Kelly and I have a goal on seeing this series being published, sharing our favorite characters with all of you. Every day we have been thinking and talking about Slick, Karasu, and all of our beloved people and now with everything settling down to a more manageable stress, the writing will commence! Our promise to you all is to have New Beginnings (Book 1 of the Kairos Prophecy) completed and edited before the end of 2018. Once we are satisfied with our own editing and ready for professional editing, we will put it up for funding.

The wait is worth it!

Also, we do have a few social media outlets that we update more often with news:

Hello everybody,

Reflecting back at 2016, I did not have much progress in writing as I would have liked. So many things got in the way. New job in teaching high school, new love, and new projects that demanded attention.

Seriously, my to do list is huge! Writing has always been on that to do list, but seemed to always end up shifting down on the list. However, 2017 will be the year that the Kairos Prophecy Book Series WILL take off. I have let too many things get in the way of completing this masterpiece.

I appreciate you all for your support of Kairos Prophecy and I promise to not let you down. Currently the book is about 2/3 finished before it needs editing (from us and a third party) and I am willing to submit it again for funding. I want to make sure that the book is more polished for the public so that people can read just how wonderful as it is visioned in mine and Kelly’s minds.

With that in mind, I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year. 2017 should be better for us all!

Hello everyone,

So it has almost been a year since we have joined Inkshares and tried our hand at the contest at the time. We obviously didn’t make the cut, but that hasn’t stopped us from keep writing. Now a year later, there had been a lot of changes within our lives and within the book and here we are again, entering another contest.

https://www.inkshares.com/contests/geek-and-sundry-fantasy-contest

This contest is all about fantasy books and New Beginnings definitely falls into that category as there are prophecies, magic, and gods. So please support us in winning this contest or at the very least, getting our book published!

Slick knew she was different than other humans with her rabbit ears and tail. However, her and friends are to embark on a journey that will take them across the universe and back to stop an apocalypse on Earth.

Happy Reading!!!

Chapter 2 is up, I know it is quite lengthy and we are working on shortening it. Just there is so much we want to put in.

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you for following our book, Kairos Prophecy Book 1: New Beginnings. We are still writing and editing, just being a little slow as Thea’s teaching career had taken up a lot of her time. However, now that summer is approaching, there is more time to write! (aka, shut the door, boot up the laptop and only come out for coffee)

Secondly, since our book had dropped down to draft status a while ago, the upcoming event is actually perfect for you to help make our book even greater. Both Kelly and I would love it if people critique our book and give advice on how we can pump up our book. In honor of Draftshares, we will post up chapter 2 for everyone to read :)

Get ready, because Draftshares is about to begin!

When: May 30th - June 4th

Readers: Check out as many drafts (projects currently in the Draft stage) as you can during the week of May 30th - June 3rd, and participate by opening and commenting on your favorite drafts’ excerpts.

Why: To encourage community engagement...and, PRIZES!

Prizes you say?: Yes! For every Draft (or synopsis*) you critique, you will be entered into a drawing for the following:
Prizes for Anyone
Three sets of a copy of Asteroid Made of Dragons, button, and shirt
Signed copy of Five Minutes + the 5 exclusive art pieces by Tabi Card
Church of Technology/Deus Hex Machina swag (pins and shirts)

Prizes for Authors

Guest spot on Drinkshares: Last Call
$25 in Inkshares Credits

Drafters: Let us know if you’d like to receive a soft critique or a hard critique by messaging a member of the DLC cast or tweeting your project link @drinkshareslc with either the #critiquemekindly or #critiqueme hashtags. If you want your synopsis critiqued, include the hashtag #critiquemypage too.

Soft Critiques (#critiquemekindly): This is the default critique if the author has not specifically requested a hard critique. The tone should be supportive and curious. Point out things you like, comment on the broader story ideas, and ask questions.

Hard Critique (#critiqueme): Only give a hard critique if the author has specifically asked for one. This is where grammatical errors, typos, and oversights can be pointed out. It’s best to include elements of a soft critique too, but you can unleash your inner editor a bit more here.

*Synopsis Critique (#critiquemypage): Interested Drafters should create a thread in the Inkshares forum ( https://www.inkshares.com/forum_threads?topic=promo), linked to their book draft, titled “Synopsis Edits: [Book Title Goes Here].”
>;;;>;;; Throughout the week, fellow authors will browse these threads and offer help with editing and improving your project page synopsis so you’re better prepared to switch over to funding with a fantastic, compelling, error-free introduction to your book!

Not sure where to start? Check out these Drafts first!:

Good Luck & Great Drafting!

We're not dead!

Hello everyone, Kelly and I would like to send out a quick reminder that we are still working on the book. We had a few setbacks (Thea catching a murderous cold), but now for the new year, we look forward into making it big this time. Thea had gifted herself this Christmas the Scrivener application that John Robin (Author of Blood Dawn) highly recommends. She is in love with it and only curses the fact that her job got in the way of using it more (though luckily has been sneaking her laptop into work to continue writing on some days). And Kelly has been finding what little time she can on editing and development of plot/characters.

We both would like to welcome our new readers, we greatly appreciate you following us and we will give you a follow back as well. If you want, we have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/KairosBookSeries , where you can also get more updates on our progress (not much as we are still trying to balance life, writing, and self-promoting)

Well, not much else to say other than we are still here!!!

Email us if you have any questions (of help): kairos.prophecy.book@gmail.com

Happy reading!!

Thanks to Inkshares' new announcement, we just need 250 pre-orders to have a limited print run!! This starts at the end of October, so for those that haven't done so, it will be the time to pre-order the book. Especially at the $10 price as Inkshares will be increasing the pre-order price to $20.

In other news, we are still chugging along with the book, it is a little over half written and the goal is to have the rest finished before Christmas (with luck and a more persistent muse, we might be able to get it done sooner) and then comes the editing and fixing errors. In the upcoming months we will be more diligent with the book, updates, and marketing (with incentives for pre-orders).

Thank you all!!!!

As thanks for reaching 1%, I uploaded a clip from the battle on Halloween. I hope you all enjoy it :)

All, thank you for the support. Things have been progressing well...

I'm still writing and dealing with social media as all of this is still very new and of course always exciting!! I currently have 236 unedited pages so far with about a hundred more in the wings, waiting to be added to the main text. However, this is all just writing without much self-editing, which will become a battlefield as everything seems important to me, but might not be cohesive for the reader and have been contemplating on creating 'extended books' after its published for those that want to read the 'deleted scenes'. Anyways, thank you for your support and it makes me feel worthy of being a writer.
