Classic noir on the sunny coast of Florida: a well-written piece by a guy who knows what he's talking about.

Classic noir, set against the sun-drenched beaches and rolling surf of the Florida coast. Ryan Smith brings years of experience as a crime reporter into the story, and it shows both in the pitch-perfect modulation of the narrative voice and in the attention to detail. The story begins with a routine infidelity investigation--I've heard that these constitute 90% of a private detective's workload--and twists before that investigation even begins, escalating from that point on. Highly recommended.

Sleekly packaged mystery. Lehanesque yarn with memorable characters — all whip-smart and witty but grounded by an exceptionally well-written and commanding voice. More Shane Black than Lehane. Excellent. I loved it.
