Hello, lovelies! In honor of joining Inkshares, I thought I’d tell you a little about myself.♡
My name is Lexy Courneya. I’m a college freshman who recently published my premier poetry collection, Bloom. My work has appeared in 8 issues of the national literary arts magazine Teen Ink and been featured on the opening page of Flash magazine. I’ve also received awards for my essays on sexual violence in America.
During the course of my life, I’ve developed an intimate relationship with mental disorders, abuse, and sexual violence. Through sharing my experiences with trauma, I hope to bring comfort, validation, and attention to fellow survivors who have long been silenced by rape culture and the stigmatization of mental illness.
All of the profits that I make from Bloom will go directly towards ending sexual violence! Profits will be donated to the Minneapolis Sexual Violence Center, which provides free counseling and advocacy services to victim-survivors and educates the community about this pervasive problem.
