Helen McKeon's latest update for Rule Britannia

Jun 17, 2017

Hi everyone, it’s been a while between updates as I’ve been filling in some of the blanks in the book, and working with a development editor to address some plot issues I am struggling with.

100 days goes so quickly.
Wow, there are only seven days left on my campaign.  To be honest, I haven’t done half the work I should have been doing as far as promotion, and the results for that are very visible, 88 orders, just over half-way to Quill publishing.

What now?
So the question I’ve been pondering as the 100 day deadline came closer and closer was whether to extend, or let it lapse.  There are a few things with the Inkshares process that I’ve learned about over time that I am not comfortable with. There have been changes made since I signed up that I don’t agree with, so on balance I’ve come to realise that while publication is my destination, Inkshares is not the road I want to travel to get there.

For that reason, when the campaign clock runs out in seven days I have decided not to extend.

I am eternally grateful for each and every one of my followers, and for the people who believe enough in Rule Britannia to commit $ (or credits).  From what I can see on the site, refunds will start being issued soon after the goal is not met.

But hey, there’s good news too!
Rule Britannia will live on.  It’s still in the running for the LaunchPad competition, so who knows, maybe that screenplay I wrote for it seven years ago will come in handy after all?
And, the editor I’ve been working with has confirmed something I’d had in the back of my mind, Rule Britannia as it currently stands has enough content and story to be at least two, if not three books.  Considering I’ve already started outlining and writing the first pages of what I thought would be a sequel, that means there is the potential for Miranda to fly the Duchess into series territory.

Thank you again for your support, for the orders, follows and votes in the syndicates.

See you soon,
Helen.
