Dear Readers,

Meet Cora Montgomery. Cora was raised on freefolk land at O’Tally’s Ranch. She learned how to ride and care for horses, how to shoot, and how to keep your head straight when the going got tough. She left O’Tally’s to join the Empire, hoping to become wealthy and stable in the militia and use her earnings to help keep O’Tally’s from going under. Rustlers had begun stealing anything that wasn’t tied down, and Cora was too young to fight them off with the rest of the hands. She did what she thought was best, and rode East to the Andurien Empire, across the Andurien River, and became a horse master for the Militia. When the war began between East and West, Cora was forced to take arms against the people she had tried to protect. Though the Andurien forces never reached the O’Tally Ranch, Cora felt that she had somehow turned her back on her family and her freefolk past. In an attempt to make amends, she accepted the post as an Imperial Marshal, in hopes to return west and make amends. Years later, she finally got the chance...
