Brilliant.  I already know so much about the mother/daughter relationship.

Reader Writer highlighted an excerpt from The Perils of Playing Bach
It’s one of the mysteries of modern life: How do you pick up someone at the airport if you can’t stop at the terminal? The problem expands exponentially here at LAX, where sixty million passengers fly in and out each year, which means that every hour, about five thousand people walk out the building and onto the curb, looking for a ride. Do I park my car in the structure, keep circling, or plant myself at the curb and take my chances? The real question, though, is “What would Silvia do?” Most likely, my mother would descend upon the taxi lane, ease down the window, and charm the policeman into fetching her a cup of coffee so she’d have something to sip while she waited.I put my car in “drive” and head for another lap around the terminal.
