Reader Writer liked an update for The Battle Within

Hello everybody,

Just wanted to follow up on the e-mail you should have received earlier from Inkshares letting you know that The Battle Within has reached its funding goal. I’m still a little in shock that this has actually happened, so I’ll try not to go on a long rambling note, but I wanted to get in touch with everyone who’s supported this project as soon as possible to say thanks.

This dream couldn’t have happened without all of you. Many of you will know my personal background that lead me to this point in my life, but for those who don’t, let’s just say that for me, it definitely embodies Frost’s ’road less traveled.’ Thanks to all of you, that road has become a bit less daunting and I am humbled at the support. From here on out, my focus will be on working with Inkshares to make sure you get the best story I can possibly deliver - I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Very Respectfully,

Alastair Luft

The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

    As an active duty Sailor, I find this work compelling. As an avid reader, I find this work well-written and compelling. Opening directly into the conflict of the protagonist's life, the internal conflict being reflected in his external world keeps the pages turning. The story itself feels like someone's life and the characters feel like people within that world, almost as if the author is reporting events. That might seem like a simple thing, but it is a testament to the writing.

      Hi everybody, just wanted to send out a few quick updates.

      First, thanks again for all the support. The campaign is coming up on 200 pre-orders, which is great. At 225 pre-orders (or 30%), I’ll be kicking in the press release phase of this campaign, so looking forward to doing that in the next week.

      Second, I’ve uploaded the final part of Chapter 2, a quick read that looks at the consequences of Hugh’s refusal to answer the Call. I hope you enjoy and as always, I look forward to feedback.

      All the best to everyone,

      Alastair
