They will come for you.
I was staring at the burn marks that dotted the surface of the table, my breathing heavy, heart thumping in my throat."Do you realize that? If you’re willing to go through with this, they will come for you and the ones you love."The woman across from me said it with a serious, desperate tone. The desperation in her voice worried me. It scared me, even. Her hand reached across the table and touched my trembling ones.Instinctively, I pulled my hands back."Hey, hey, it’s okay," she said softly, in a voice I hadn’t heard in years, but one that had helped me get here. Her eyes locked on mine. "Look, I totally get it if you don’t want to do it."She pulled her hands back and ran her fingers through her green-dyed hair.I opened my mouth but closed it again when no sound came out. Absentmindedly, I ran my fingers over my arm and felt the familiar shiver crawl down my spine. In my head, I heard Al Pacino say, "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."I looked up. Her eyes, brown, flecked with gold met mine. "I have to go to the bathroom," I said, getting up and walking off.The bathroom smelled of potpourri. It didn’t take long before the remnants of my breakfast coated the bottom of the bowl. I rinsed my mouth, gripping the cold porcelain sink as if it might keep me grounded. The pale face in the mirror staring back at me looked like someone else, not like me, it felt like i was staring at a diffrent version of myself. As i felt a dry heave come up i swallowed it down, closed my eyes and took a deep breath. "You okay in there?" Her voice sounded after a little knock
