Happy Geeky Saturday, Space Crew!

Today is Tabletop Day and Independent Bookstore Day! I don’t know about where you all live, but the sun is shining here. It’s a good day to go hang out with some fellow nerds.

Those of you sitting at home like me (for now), get the pleasure of reading some book spam.

So here’s the deal. I want to make sure I have a solid contribution to give to BuildOn, the charity I’ve partnered with. In order to pledge them anything significant, the pre-order train cannot stop here.

I have some things in the works that I hope will help, but if that doesn’t work out we’ve got 5 days remaining to fund this project as much as we can. Help me help others by picking up extra copies as gifts, or if you’re a fellow author, your shout-outs are much appreciated!

Next Saturday is a geeky Saturday too. Free Comic Book Day is back, and that means I’ll be releasing a digital 5-page spread sharing a scene from our beloved story. Here’s a sneak peek of the line-art, and you can expect more this week.

I also want to shout-out some authors who are funding right now that I’d like to see doing better.

George Pitre’s The Girl Who Blinked seems to have gotten buried among so many space operas. I’d like to see this guy funded, and he’s running out of time. So check out some of his work and see if it resonates with you.

RF Martin’s Pixelated Obsidian Roses is described as "an experimental dark fantasy, in the vein of Lovecraftian Cosmic Horror". If that doesn’t make you pick it up, maybe the blurb will.

Patrick who needs no last name isn’t yet funding, but has pitched the idea of Brobots. I’m so excited I can’t stop thinking about this pitch. Check it out, and follow and support him, because this story is going places.

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for Trekonomics

Dear readers and supporters of Trekonomics,

    Great news!

As you may have noticed, your copies of the book are shipping out this week! Don’t forget to confirm your address.

If you are among those backers outside of North America, your package will take a little longer. But it will get to your door eventually.

For supporters and friends of Trekonomics on the West Coast, save the following dates:

    • In Los Angeles: reading and signing at Skylights Books in Los Feliz (1818 N. Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027), Saturday June 4th 2016 at 5:00 PM. The one and only Chris Black (Mad Men, Star Trek: Enterprise, The Outcast etc...) will introduce the book.

    • In the Bay Area: Prof. Brad DeLong has tentatively agreed to join us from Starfleet Academy (aka Berkeley) to discuss all things Trekonomics at Books Inc. Berkeley (1491 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley 94704) on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 7:00 PM.

I hope to see you there!

There will be more events announced shortly.

    Live Long, and Prosper.

    Manu

PS: the meantime, here is a picture of the book in its final, bookstore-ready form:

Just 7 days left guys! We’re so close but we still need your help. If everyone within earshot of this message could share and tweet this page it would go a long way!

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for The Madness of Mr. Butler

          Writing, writing, and more writing!

With only a few days left until my son is born (hours if he comes early) and Mr. Butler’s revision stages being not quite complete, I expect to submit the manuscript in June. I just wanted to let you all know this in advance. It is a realistic goal, and I am growing more and more proud of the book as days progress. Mr. Butler’s tale has blossomed into something far greater than originally envisioned. I’ve pulled together the most brutal band of beta readers I could find, and once I get chapters back from them I will post revised chapters on here for your perusal. Thank you for hanging in there, everybody.

In the meantime, I’ve done something that is a little bit on the crazy side, or if you know me, I’ve done something fairly expected.

I just put another book on here for funding. This one is called "An Adventure With Dada," and it’s a foul-mouthed first-person dark comedy adventure that is complete, it just needs to be pulled out of first-draft stage and into a nice, polished manuscript to be submitted to a publisher. This book has already passed through the test of my wife reading it and enjoying it. She had some critique to give, but nothing unmanageable. My wife is not a bullshitter, so if she says it’s good, then it’s good. I don’t mean to be cocky by putting another book on here or anything. In fact, I meant to place it up as a draft but apparently hit the wrong button, and when I couldn’t find the button to revert my action, I just thought "what the hell...I really like this story, so let’s give it a shot." It is quite different from Mr. Butler...not sci-fi at all. It’s a story grown from my wife’s one-time fear from when I used to tie our dogs to our daughter’s jogging stroller. She worried that they would run off with her in some sort of deranged sleigh ride, and "An Adventure With Dada" supposes this scenario to be real. The book is finished, and I would love to see it hit quill...so feel free to check it out and pre-order over here: https://www.inkshares.com/books/an-adventure-with-dada?referral_code=26dce7a3

More to come, but it’s time to write. Thank you all for your support. Much love and happiness to all.

          -Michael/Dada
