Kendra Namednil liked an update for Faoii Betrayer

Faoii! It’s CONTEST TIME!!

I promised that if we got up to 100 pre-orders I would run a contest, AND WE’VE DONE THAT. Well done, my warriors. I am so proud of you.

(I made a video about the contest, but Inkshares doesn’t support videos in these updates, so click HERE to see it.)

*~*NAME A CHARACTER IN FAOII BETRAYER~*

There are 15 new characters throughout FAOII BETRAYER. I want YOU to be one of the people to name them. There are 3 ways to enter:

1) PRE-ORDER YOUR COPY For every copy of FAOII BETRAYER you pre-order, you get 10 entries into the contest (if you’ve already pre-ordered, you are already entered to win).

 2) HELP OTHERS TO PRE-ORDER For every new recruit you bring to the fight, you get 10 entries AND they get 10 entries. We need 750 pre-orders to make it real. Don’t forget that if you pre-order and we don’t hit funding, you get your money back, so there is NOTHING to lose.

3)SHARE For every FAOII BETRAYER post you share on social media (any platform), you get an additional 5 entries into the contest. It doesn’t cost anything at all to spread the news, but that is the ONLY way we’re going to make this book become real.

Kendra Namednil liked an update for Mushroom and Anchovy

    Greetings, adventurers!

It’s the first Monday of the month, meaning that this is #MushAnch Monday. I know it has still been only two weeks since you heard from me last... perhaps a minor oversight on my part, but hey, at least I’m being consistent!

Because it has, in fact, only been two weeks, I don’t have any updates or info--at this rate, I’m quite sure it’ll be 2019 before I have any news for you. I’ve been proven wrong before, though!

To let you in on some life updates, I’ve been doing a little freelance editing and proofreading of late. If you’re in need of an editor or just someone to bounce ideas and concepts off, please get ahold of me! I really love editing and will give you honest, constructive feedback to help you progress. Give me a shout for my rates and I’ll happily chat with you.

I’m getting ready to launch my next large-scale project, with details on that to come very, very soon. I’m so excited about this project and it’s coming together much faster than I thought it would. So you can be aware of when this is going to happen, I recommend following my Facebook page or signing up for the newsletter on my website. I’ll give you a teeny hint: it has something to do with the Practical Escapist!

As this is likely to be the last update before 2019, I want to take a moment to thank you all for your support in 2018. It’s been a quiet year for Mushroom and Anchovy, but hopefully the sleepiness is building up to a great 2019. I can’t wait to share all the exciting new things 2019 will have in store, and I’m thinking it’s going to be a really creative year.

What are your wishes for 2019? What are your highlights from 2018? I’d love to hear them. Shoot me a comment on my Facebook page or Patreon, or send me a DM through Inkshares.

Talk to you on January 7th for the next #MushAnch Monday. Have a fantastic holiday, whatever you celebrate, and all the best to you in 2019!

My your adventures be fraught with wonder and just enough peril to keep them interesting,

    K. M. Cooper

PS: Here is a doodle I did this weekend. I’ve been slowly getting back into art after a lengthy hiatus. Enjoy!

Kendra Namednil liked an update for Rock of Ages

       Happy December!
I’m still working on the prologue. I’ve now tried approaching it from three different character’s points of view and added period-appropriate dialogue and description. I’m dialing back the flowery language from the version I have posted to make the poetic bits more emotionally impactful. We’re getting there, I think.

In the meantime, I have exciting news! The Writing Bloc short story anthology,
ESCAPE!, is available for pre-order NOW! I have a sneak peek of my story, "Aspirant," about a young aspiring nun at a Zen monastary, up on my blog! The whole anthology is only $2.99 until January 1, when it will increase to $5.99. You’ll get the book delivered to your device of choice automatically on January 1 and will have something to hold you over until Rock of Ages is ready! I’m really proud of my story and of all the hard work the cooperative has put into making this collection happen.

I’ll keep chugging along with this rewrite and I’ll keep updating you! Please keep sending the encouraging words! :)

Thank you so much for your support, as always!

Kendra Namednil liked an update for More Fun and Games

Happy December everyone!  Long time no chat!

Well during that long time, I sure have been busy! So busy that More Fun and Games, the sequel to the novel you preordered back in 2016 is just about ready!  How just about? Like within 2 weeks just about!

        And here’s the cover!

More Fun and Games is clocking in at about 62,000 words, or about 20% longer than It’s All Fun and Games, and is chock full of adventure, intrigue and humor! Allison and the gang, having come to terms with their new world, continue eastward toward the Arcanum and their quest to defeat Magnus, the Arcanum’s wizard king.

But like any good adventure, things don’t exactly work out the way they expect. They make some new friends, make some new enemies, and discover that the longer they spend within the game the more they become their game characters. Early readers have gushed over it, so I know that you’ll like it too!

         I’m so excited!

Current plans are for the ebook will retail for 4.99, and the paperback 9.99 (I hope…stay tuned...).

So, how do you go about getting the next installment? As you may remember, the Inkshares crowdfunding program didn’t work out, so I’m self-publishing it. It will be available on all ebook platforms, at your favorite online retailer, but also available at your friendly local bookstore - ask them to include it on their next order from Ingram! Support those independent bookstores if you can!

Even better, through a partnership with my own friendly neighborhood bookstore, The Briar Patch, if you live somewhere far away and would like to get an autographed copy, we’ll ship em to you! And of course, if you’re local, I’ll hopefully have a release party scheduled soonish. Check out my Facebook page if you want to stay in the know.

Now, I’ve got a secret to share with you

         Oh yes I do

On release day (TBD, 2nd week of December at some point), the ebook will be available on amazon for only 99 cents. That’s right!  Only 99 cents! Early purchases and early reviews make a huge impact, so if you were planning on buying the ebook, there’s a 4 dollar savings for you by getting it on release day.

If you were planning on buying the physical book, please consider spending the extra 99 cents on release day. If you do, I’ll knock a dollar off your physical book purchase at the Briar Patch (either online orders or local shoppers). There’s a little tag you get for #1 new releases and #1 best sellers in your book categories, and I’d love to get one or both!

To all of you who have poked and prodded and pestered me to release book two, thank you so much for your encouragement, faith, and patience. I just wrapped up Endgame during National Novel Writing Month, and I think you’re going to like that one too. Hopefully it won’t be another 2 years!

        Thanks!
        Dave

PS - you may get this message more than once, since I’ll be sending it out to a couple mailing lists, and there’s some overlap. I apologize for the spam.

Kendra Namednil liked an update for Blood Capital

          Hi All,

Thank you everyone for following my novel or pre-ordering a copy. As I’ve posted before, this feed of Inkshares emails is deliberately quiet, as I send out most of my updates using my author newsletter. I do this as I have many subscribers from outside Inkshares and it’s the easiest way to manage things (and avoid hitting you twice with emails). If you aren’t subscribed to my newsletter, you can sign up here: https://robertbatten.net/sign-up/

I’m writing this email now to ask for your help. I’ve been made aware my newsletters have been falling foul of spam filters and dropping into many people’s spam folders. I’ve just sent out my November update and I’d like to ask the following favours of anyone who’s subscribed:

          1. If you haven’t seen my author newsletter in your inbox, could you double check your spam folder? If it’s there, can you please click the "not spam" button?
          2. Could you please add robert@robertbatten.net (the address my newsletter comes from) to your contacts? This will help tell the mail providers that you do want to receive my emails.

Thank you for your help. I hope everyone is excited for the holiday season!

PS: as part of my process to clean-up the mailing list and get back on the good side of the spam algorithms, I’ve had to purge many emails from the list. If you thought you were subscribed, but don’t have a newsletter in your inbox or spam folder, I may have accidentally purged you — sorry! You can re-subscribe here: https://robertbatten.net/sign-up/

          Cheers,

          Robert

Kendra Namednil liked an update for A Gentleman’s Murder

December is upon us, which means that, for a lot of us, Christmas is around the corner. Don’t forget to get your shopping done early; and if you haven’t yet, don’t forget to give Amazon or GoodReads (or whatever your preferred online bookstore is) your two cents’ worth of thoughts on "A Gentleman’s Murder". Other readers will want to know about your experience. We’re currently at 39 reviews on Amazon -- not too far off from the 50 review mark, which is when Amazon supposedly begins to take a book seriously.

December also means that we have just two weeks before the end of the Inkshares Mystery & Thriller contest: two weeks to try for that magic 250 reader mark for "Cat’s Paw". We’re still a good distance off, but, well, ’tis the season of hope. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I urge you to do so. Every little bit counts.

And of course, don’t forget to have a great weekend! I know I will: I’ve got a carton of eggnog waiting for me.

Kendra Namednil liked an update for The Fairy Stepmother Inc.

              Hey everyone!

Good news! If you backed The Fairy Stepmother Inc, your copy is available! If you ordered a physical book, you should have it, and if you ordered an e-reader copy, it should have arrived in your inbox today.

Now, I had a heck of a time getting my copy on my kindle, and the Amazon link Inkshares sent wasn’t the most helpful. So if you have a kindle and have never done this before, here’s my recommendation. If you don’t have a kindle, I’m sorry--I can’t give you advice. But I hope your Nook or Apple reader is more cooperative.

So, here you go. First of all, I strongly recommend visiting this page:

              https://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle

Amazon makes an app that will deliver the file to your kindle, and there are versions for PC, Mac, and Android devices. I have a PC, so I saved the file of my book on my PC, and I clicked on the Send to Kindle for PC link. Choose the link that matches your computer. It will let you download the app and tell you how to use it.

You are supposed to be able to email files to your kindle, but I spent a good hour and a half trying to make this work with no success, so it doesn’t come with my personal seal of approval.

Last step: read the book! I really hope you enjoy it. If you do enjoy it, and you want to leave me a good review on Amazon or Goodreads, I would be very, very grateful. Thanks so much for your support--your preorders made this possible! And if you need more tech support, let me know and I’ll do my very best.

              Maggie

Kendra Namednil liked an update for Shadow King

                November 30, 2018

Good morning. Just a really quick update for everyone.

First, I was fortunate enough to be interviewed by Jan Lewis for her Local Public TV (Upton Community Television) segment, "Be My Guest." It was my first on-camera interview and I learned a lot, and am pretty happy with how it turned out (although there are a couple places I would have edited differently).

If you’re interested, you can see the spot on their YouTube channel:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z34uf0NGNA&feature=youtu.be

Second, for updates I’m considering moving to a mailing list format rather than Inkshares updates. One main reason is I’m starting to get a few more followers outside this platform, and need a central place to keep in touch with everyone.

I’ll be testing this out in December, and the updates will come from my Yahoo account: susankhamilton@yahoo.com.

                Best,
                Susan
