Dear Readers,
I know it’s been awhile since I sent an update from Inkshares. I was trying to avoid annoying you with the double emails coming from my deborahmunroauthor.com website. So this update is just for you, not everyone on my email list.
First off, thank you all so much for your continued support. It means the world to me and gives me the strength to keep going with the editing and revising time and time again. APEX has feedback from two beta readers now, and they agree that it is shaping up into a compelling story that they had trouble putting down. In fact, one of them read the whole thing in a single sitting, which gladdens my heart :).
The next step is to incorporate their feedback, and then it’s back to my editor. The main issue left to resolve is on characterization. I have to flesh out my characters a little more and build their relationship further, but I’m close!
In case you missed some earlier updates from my website account, I am in the process of moving to New Zealand! Yes, it’s true that I’m becoming a Kiwi. I’ll be developing a biomedical engineering program within the mechanical engineering department at a university there. And I depart in two short weeks.
As you can imagine, that means life is chaotic at the moment with work projects, clearing out, packing, selling my house, establishing a home base abroad, and on and on. So, I’ve had to put APEX on hold until I’m settled again, which means the book won’t be in your hands until next year. Sigh...I was really hoping to have it to you sooner. But I hope you’ll find it was worth the wait! :)
Feel free to email me at dmunro@deborahmunroauthor.com or reply through Inkshares. I love hearing from you.
Best wishes to you all, and I’ll see you on the flip side of the world!
Cheers, Debbie
Great news everyone!
First of all, the glitch that was making it appear that we had lost all our pre-orders seems to have been fixed. The number of pre-orders currently displaying on our Inkshares production page now seem to accurately reflect the number of pre-orders we’ve sold, which brings me to our other piece of good news:
Those numbers just got an unexpected boost!
The Staff Syndicate has chosen to support Proteus this month! I had honestly given up any hope of getting any more syndicate support for Proteus, so this came out of absolutely nowhere. Thanks to their sudden surge of support, we’ve gained more than a dozen brand new orders all in one day, and have been brought up to 537 preorders. That means only 213 more to go!
We’re getting so close to the final stretch, and I plan to ride the momentum from this unexpected windfall as far as it will go. The next couple weeks are going to be a wild ride.
July 20, 2018
Hello, hello! Hope you’re all having a wonderful summer. I just wanted to share a few quick updates on "Shadow King."
The Manuscript
The book itself continues to move through the process. It is with the typesetter now and I should get my first look at the layout on or around July 30. From there we have a few more reviews as we close in on having a final book ready for physical production and release.
Cover
The cover has been proofread, and once we know the spine size, my cover designer (the wonderful Charlene Maguire!) will be able to complete the final template that Inkshares will need.
Important: Have you moved?
Everyone who has pre-ordered will get their copies of "Shadow King" in advance of the October 2 release date (yay!). If you ordered a hard copy, and have moved in the last 365 days, please contact Inkshares to update your shipping address! I’d hate to see your copy go to the wrong address!
Interview
I was interviewed by Writing Bloc about "Shadow King" and writing dark fantasy as a genre. Please check it out!
Spread the Word
Like all writers, I’m always interested in spreading the word about "Shadow King." Please share what you know about "Shadow King" with friends, family, your hair stylist, dog walker, and mailman (mailperson?). And if you’re following my adventures here but haven’t ordered yet, now would be a most auspicious time!
Thanks again for all of your support, and I’ll update again in August!
Best,
Susan
Important announcement:
The monstrous chapter 6 of Ereshk is now available . Monstrous in length. Monstrous in content. I must warn you, this one gets ugly. Helter Skelter ugly.
As always, a massive thank you to everyone following, reading, leaving generous reviews, and showing even the slightest hint of interest. It all keeps me going and you are all the real heroes here.
Welcome to Abaddon Temple.
So the several year long journey of getting Ghosts of War: Retribution to publication day has finally come to an end. Many, many hours of writing and editing and deadlines and design and planning and crowdfunding and...
I got a cold on release day, proceeded to be wiped out, and forgot to do an update...
Go me.
But fear not! The book is just as released today as it was yesterday and here are three simple things you can do to help the book as it takes it’s first steps into the wider world.
1. Read it!
Unsurprisingly the first step is to actually read the book. If you haven’t yet received your print copy (they’re on the way!), you should be able to download the ebook from the Inkshares website. If you haven’t bought it yet, and would like to here are a few places you can do that:
Physical
Ebook
2. Leave reviews!
The next step is to head over to Amazon and Goodreads and leave your reviews. I believe the magic number is 50 reviews for Amazon before it does something magical with their algorithms. So lets aim for 50.
Every review helps grow the books profile, and will help to get it in front of more peoples eyes.
3. Tell some people about it! (or everyone even)
Spread the word. Tell people about the book. Encourage them to buy a copy (and leave a review!)
-------------
I think that’ll do for the moment. Lastly though, I want to thank everyone that helped make this thing a reality, you’re all awesome. It still feels weird. It still doesn’t feel real. But I am a published author today (er, yesterday) because of all of you.
I do really need to go lie down now though.
I know,I should update regularly... I should just hire someone to help with this area, since I never know what to say, when very little happens. But, I have things to speak of now. First, anew cover.and updated material, freshly edited.
Just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who’s given Ereshk a follow in the past week, I appreciate your interest. I’m in the process of editing chapter 6 (out of probably 10 samples ) to post up here. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy the story as much as I enjoy writing it.
And if you aren’t following, and this message has just shown up on the activity page, consider coming on over and checking it out. Ereshk has been called "Sorta like Twilight if it had been directed by David Lynch using a more violent script for Rambo 4." By me. I said that.
