From the TELEGRAPH (UK) - This month the estate of Joseph Goebbels sued Random House in Germany for quoting from his diaries in a biography which is about to appear in the UK. The estate’s lawyer argued that, rather than donate royalties to Holocaust charities, the money should go to the heirs of Hitler’s minister of propaganda (none of them direct descendants, of course, as Magda Goebbels murdered their six children in the bunker).

Several of the characters in THE ENKERT DOSSIERS are modeled on scions of the Nazi leadership, still alive today, who are absolutely astonishing when it comes to their tone-deaf  (and self-absorbed) belief regarding the righteousness of the Third Reich.  Just weeks ago, Edda Göring – the Godchild of Adolf Hitler, and a 76-year-old resident of Munich – appealed to the Barvarian Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee to gain "compensation" for her “father's legacy expropriated in the year 1948” – this “legacy” being some $200 million worth of art plundered from individuals and institutions during the spread of the Nazi regime across Europe. It took the Committee only minutes to deny Edda's claim. Edda has been a frequent guest of honor at gatherings of former SS members as well as neo-Nazi organizations.

One of the sub-themes in my novel regards scions of Nazi war criminals dealing with the dark legacy left by their fathers, mothers, aunts, and uncles. This short interview with Katrin Himmler formed no small part of my inspiration.
