Thanks for the tips, Joseph. I didn’t realize that reviews here were a public thing. I tend to go a little too far into constructive criticism mode (usually utilizing a format I like to call the Constructive Criticism Sandwich. You add a top layer of all the positive stuff, you add a middle layer of the negative stuff, and then you add a bottom layer of more positive stuff and encouragement). If reviews here are more for recognition and such, then I should definitely change up how I review things and leave my constructive criticism for direct messages and such.

I definitely like positive feedback, but I feel like my story could be improved upon, so I’d definitely like some constructive criticism on my work, so that I can improve it accordingly.

Hi @Heidi Rebstock  You said "If reviews here are more for recognition and such, then I should definitely change up how I review things...." but I just want to reiterate that the guidelines I mentioned were just sort of how I think of the reviews on inkshares. Just my approach to it. Not at all definitive. There’s no official ruling one way or another. Your critical sandwich is fine! (Makes me hungry too...) But just keep in mind that if you’re going to spend 20-30 minutes reading an author’s chapter(s) (or longer if you’re leaving comments along the way like I do)  and then write a review that has even a slight negative edge to it, there’s a chance that author will reject the review (they don’t HAVE to post it, I mean). Probably that won’t be the case, especially when an author has NO reviews whatsoever yet, they’ll probably accept anything. But it’s in their best interest to only let the positive stuff through the gate - at least that’s what I would assume - being on a crowdfunding site and all.

In terms of comments, personally, I’ve seen a lot of fairly useless comments being flung about on peoples’ chapters. It reminds me of my terrible experiences in the world’s worst creative writing course. "So what’d you guys think of this story?" "I liked it!"  "Gee, thanks."   I think the community as a whole should embrace leaving constructive criticism in comments, and of course leave a review for every chapter(s) they read here.

    Thanks for the discussion, Heidi!

I’d like to get on this train as well. I’ve been a bit MIA and this sounds a great way to get re-engaged with Inkshares. I’ll start going through this list and doing some reading and reviewing---and if anyone leaves me a review first I’ll be sure to make theirs the next I read--likely within 24 hours. Cheers!

Moye asks the big question, is your life more important than saving an entire world? I thoroughly enjoy any story that tackles what a hard pill it can be to swallow when accepting what destiny has in store. Give Frost a whirl, you won't be disappointed!

Fantastic character development from chapter 1. Already I'm concerned about the mundane aspects of their lives and I know the moment a supernatural twist is thrown it's going to impact the reader even more. Keep up the great work!
