Picked up 7 more readers. That closes the gap between me and 20th place a little, but I've still got 12 to go to tie, 13 to take the spot over, as of this counting.
I think it's doable.
It feels, though, that the contest is entering a phase where the competition feels more real. It makes less sense, now, for authors close to each other in the rankings to trade pre-orders, especially not those authors nipping at others' heels.
Whom, then, do we entreat? I've got 23 followers who haven't bought copies, but how many of them are in the same predicament as me. A few, I'm sure.
So, I'll instead entreat those of you with whom I'm not directly competing: friends, family, mailmen ... those of you for whom I'm your only dog in the fight. Ask another friend to join in, ask another family member -- hell, ask four or five family members (and have them ask four or five friends, apiece) -- have your uncle ask his mailman. Have the mailman ask the whole post office!
You all may be Scotty and telling me "Noo way!" but (in this analogy, anyway) I am Captain Kirk and I need "more power, Mr. Scott!"
Remember, Scotty finds a way. Scotty is the man. Be the man (or the woman). ;)
It's been exhilarating, to this point. After joining three weeks late and only being at it for 10 days, I'm sitting in 23rd place out of 322 entrants. That pleases me, but I'm not ready to say "that's good enough."
Pleas for more readers aside, I just posted Chapter 5. It's the longest one, yet, and I'd love some feedback on it.
Last night, a friend of mine conducted an informal interview of me. He's working on producing the video, now. I'll post it as soon as it's ready. It'll be nice to fill that media slot; it seems so empty whenever I edit my page.
Happy Friday, everybody.
