Hi Readers!
Why OF COURSE I have not forgotten you, how could I? Just wanted to shoot everyone a little update - we’re still in the production queue, with a few books ahead of Phantom Forest that were greenlit prior to mine. The queue looks to be moving ahead though, so once they’ve assigned me a copy editor we’ll be in the home stretch. What I’ve discovered throughout this process is that hybrid publishing often takes just as long as traditional publishing does, from final manuscript submission to seeing the work in stores! So I wanted to say thanks to all for your patience.
In the meantime: I know a lot of folks who pre-ordered the book work in Film/TV, and a few of you have asked for full reads. If you want to go about this process all officially and make an inquiry, feel feel to visit the book’s properties page: https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-phantom-forest/properties/wow
Talk Soon!

Synopsis
A group of stranger’s insane visions has kept them together for years. But the real threat to their survival isn’t the heat of the jungle, the provisions that have turned to poison before they open them, or the wild animals roaming out there.
The real threat is whatever is out in the frigid darkness, stalking their move, snatching one of them at a time, leaving bodies mangled horribly or missing forever. Simone takes over the lead after the creature kills its original leader.
Drawing equally on her own magic strengths, and the mystical beliefs of the young woman they have rescued, Simone sets a course on foot out of the jungle and away from the insatiable beast. But every day the dwindling group becomes more deranged, until Simone begins to fear there is no escape from an ever-more-inconceivable nightmare.
Will they have the strength to face Suellita?

Meet BLASTROPODCAST; my absurd series of comedy shows about science, movies, and British people. Please have a brief listen and get a fuller picture of the writer that you’re supporting!

Just a quick update to let everyone know that the beginning stages of the developmental editing process are proceeding nicely. I promised a behind-the-scenes look, so read on if you’re interested in hearing more....
My developmental editor, Matt Harry, and I have spent the past month passing an 11-page outline back and forth. At this point, we have settled on the arc for the story as a whole, and the arcs of the main characters.

I am thrilled with the tweaks to the original storyboard and feel that the alterations and additions to the initial plot will serve to reinforce the themes. I am eager to see where it leads.
Now that the outline is complete, we are moving on. I am currently spending a few hours a day working on rewriting and editing the first 100 pages to turn over to Matt so that he can provide page-specific notes. As of now, I have worked through about 60% of the first section, and hope to complete it within a week.
Matt will then work through the first 100 pages as I edit and rewrite the next 100 pages. We will then do this with a final section (the book will likely end up between 250 and 300 pages). Because we are adding new scenes and drastically altering others, the second and third segments will take a bit longer to work through.
After the first round is complete, we will rinse and repeat a couple of times until we are both happy with the story.
So, there you have it. As always, thank you for the support. Every day that I sit down and write, I think of all of you. I am forever grateful for this opportunity.
Until next time,
-Jacqui
Quick update!
Thank you for hanging in there, everyone!
I’m nearing the end of the first phase of developmental editing, which means that the story itself is getting a polished shine so bright you’ll be able to see your face in the cover when you get the book (subject to glossiness of the actual cover). This means in the coming weeks I will be moving on to rewrites. The developmental editing process has been incredible. Mr. Butler and friends have truly come out on top through this process. Endless thanks to Matt Harry, my editor, for his patience with me during a difficult summer, his ability to see the story the same way I see it, and his willingness to challenge me along the way.
"Cool. So when do I get my book?"
I’m working hard to try and get it into your hands during the first half of next year. I can’t thank you all enough for your investment in my dream to become a published author. I realize it’s unconventional to buy a book two years before getting it, but the end will pay off, I promise. Inkshares books are still getting published faster than traditional publishers’s books, and all the while they are gaining international attention, securing TV, movie, and audiobook deals, and winning awards. This momentum is no doubt part of the careful attention they are giving to books like mine. This is a dream, and I thank you all for your investment.
If you wish to see my other writing, poetry, and music while you wait, please take a look at talltalestold.com. It’s my personal blog and home for all things writing. You can watch me become a Viking and play guitar...but not in the same entry...yet.
If you’re on Facebook, stop by and give Tall Tales Told a "like." There’s also a group on that page where I post the Mr. Butler news and updates, in case you’d prefer seeing them on there rather than through an email.
That’s all I’ve got for now. I’d better get back to work.
Thank you for your support, as always.
Love,
Michael
Hi All,
I’m long overdue for some news about Lost in the Fog, so here we go!
First, I must express my continued gratitude. Because of all of you, my novel surpassed the 250-pre-order requirement (272 thus far) and will be published by Inkshares! Your support brings a ginormous smile to my face, and I am beyond grateful. For years I’ve wanted to share Lost in the Fog with the world, and I will be able to do it because of you. Merci beaucoup, danke schoen, arigato, mahalo nui loa, and thank you!
Second, I want to provide an update to the question you all have: when will I receive my copy of Lost in the Fog? While I wish I could give it to you right now, unfortunately the world of book publishing moves at a slower pace. Here’s a recent example. Robin Sloane, author of the outstanding best seller Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore (which I highly recommend), announced to his fans on July 15, 2016 he had finished a new novel. On September 5th of this year, Sloane’s Sourdough will be released to the world.
For those of you who don’t want to do the math, that’s almost 14 months from completion to publication for an author who just had a best seller.
While I’ve yet to have a best seller, the goal is to get Lost in the Fog to you a whole lot sooner. Here is where I am with the process. While I’ve gone through so many drafts of my novel that I’ve lost count, I am still working on one more. When that is finished I send it off to the publisher, and then they assign an editor to work on it with me.
The editing process can take several months, and then there’s the cover, the clean-up of the final version, printing, marketing, and distribution. This meticulous process will be done to produce the best possible version of my book. Because you should never over-promise and under-deliver, my goal for Lost in the Fog is that it will be published next summer.
Inkshares is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I plan on flying back there to sign every book before they ship. So while a little patience is in order, I’m happy to report that everyone who pre-ordered a paperback will receive a personalized signed copy!
Third part to this update: as we walk down the long and winding road to publication, I will keep you informed along the way and hopefully have some fun with it. I plan to share with you, the ones who have made Lost in the Fog possible, special items akin to DVD/Blu-ray extras. Here’s a sneak preview.
In the beginning of Lost in the Fog (which you can check out right now on the "Read" tab), the main character Camden takes the Caltrain (the commuter rail) from San Carlos into the city of San Francisco. Here is what he sees and thinks that morning:
Tired and hungover, he could only stare slack jawed at the lavender and pink clouds which appeared to be crashing like waves over to the East Bay sky. Camden couldn’t get it out of his mind that he was a yo-yo. Slung up the Peninsula to San Francisco in the morning, he was suspended there in a “walk the dog” move for the day. As the sun set the giant wrist flicked and he returned to his home thirty-five miles south of the city.
At the Caltrain Depot in San Francisco, Camden exited with the mass of commuters and began his usual walk up Fourth Avenue…….
Below are some pictures of what Camden would have seen as he approached the San Francisco station on that morning, and also the view of when he exited the train to walk to his job as a gallery attendant. Back when I was writing the first draft, commuting into the city was my life. Those thirty-five to fifty-five minutes (it all depended on whether it was an express or a local), I used to spend working on Lost in the Fog. That time on the train fueled my creativity and was very important to me.
Thank you all again, and looking forward to sharing more updates soon!
-Michael

Hi everyone,
This weekend I had an amazing event at Austin’s Book People. Each book store I’ve visited thus far has exemplified the unique literary flare of its city, and Book People did not disappoint. The highlight, for me, was receiving a watermelon carving of The Punch Escrow’s cover. I sent it to M.S. Corley, the cover designer, and he and I agreed that we should have shipped all the books with watermelon rind covers in lieu of foil. Unfortunately, this was not a stock option offered by our printer.
Many of you have been asking me about the "secret" chapter. I am very close to releasing it to you. I have every intention of keeping my word that, as soon as we hit 101 reviews on Amazon, I will send a special out-of-band reader update containing the "secret" chapter. In the mean time, with the help of my friend and 22nd century legal expert Jay Wolman, I’m taking this opportunity to "clean up" some of the future legalese. There are 727 of you on this distribution, only 26 of you who haven’t yet need to post a review on Amazon, and the "secret" chapter is yours!
Also! More exciting movie news is forthcoming this week. I am sworn to secrecy (sorry for being so clandestine lately), but the news should be public on the early side of the week (I hope!).
Peas,
Tal
Okay small update, the information says hardcover. Well that is not true it is actually paperback.
If you look at the pricing you’ll notice they are for paperback prices. It was changed before preorders were activated. I just wanted to let all followers know.

Thank you for still following along. I hope we make it further in this contest. It has a fantastic learning experience. I am learning more now then in the past few years.
If you can not pre-order a copy please share campaign or give a small review of any of the stories listed. You can also hear "The Thing From Mist Lake" on Youtube.

Hey everyone,
This is just a quick little pre-update of sorts. You see, Ghosts of War is right on the tippy top precipice of being ready for submission to Inkshares. You’ve no doubt noticed that in the past I’ve been at this point before, or close to it in some capacity, and that I also tend to only put general, wishy-washy type of deadlines on things. And that hasn’t worked so well. Y’know, this sort of thing:

Well. This is different (no, really). Because on Monday the 28th of August 2017, I, Paul Robinson, will be handing Ghosts of War over to Inkshares.
No if’s, and’s or but’s (heh…butts).
It’s happening.
I’m telling everyone.
So it has to happen.
I’d look like a right wally if I missed the big red deadline wouldn’t I?
MONDAY 28TH OF AUGUST 2017
(Okay, so I couldn’t make it red. Or overly big...use your imagination)
Anywho, I’ll see you then with the good news.

Well I started in on the new edit this week and I have the prologue and half of chapter one done. As soon as I finish up chapter one I’ll replace both of those chapters on the read page.
The main motivation for this rewrite was to remove, replace, or rearrange the massive info dump i remembered putting in One, little did I realize I had already done that long ago. I’m glad I went into this, though, because I did find some grammatical and spelling errors I had missed through all of my other edits. Still I’m perfectly open to any changes you folks might have in mind, don’t be shy.
See you later.
