“Time flies. It’s up to you to be the navigator.” - Robert Orben
Aloha All,
It’s hard to believe it was almost three months ago that I submitted my novel Lost in the Fog to Inkshares!
Summer had just started, Elon Musk had yet to smoke marijuana on a live show, and nobody cared what the word “boof” meant. I guess a lot can happen in 90 days.
In early July I had just finished the developmental edit of Lost in the Fog, where I had worked tirelessly whenever I could find free time with a very talented editor to significantly improve my manuscript. I was ecstatic back then, as submitting the new version of the book to the publisher was a huge milestone! But as I wrote in my last update, Inkshares is small publishing house and they only have the ability to work on 1-2 books per month. I knew I had to wait my turn.
I finally have great news to share … Lost in the Fog is next in the queue to start the publication process!
While I still don’t have an exact timeline and I cannot yet give you a publication date, we’re another step closer. I would say early 2019 is looking very good. Once Inkshares begins to work on Lost in the Fog and I have more detailed information, you’ll be the first to know!
I’m also very happy to share with you that I have been writing the sequel to Lost in the Fog. Here’s the pitch:
An investigative reporting team from San Francisco must discover why a religious cult in Honolulu wants to assassinate them.
I’ve lived in Hawaii for the last six years, and I am super excited to set the new Camden and Veronica Mystery in the place I’m honored to call home. While we wait for Lost in the Fog to go through the publication process with Inkshares and get into your hands, finishing the sequel is now my top priority. My ultimate goal is to create at least a trilogy with these characters, but hopefully a longer series featuring Camden and Veronica where each novel will take place in a different location. I’m already thinking Paris for the third book …
Mahalo again for your support! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
-Michael

Dear Guys/Gals/Misc/Supernatural Entities or Aliens in Disguise,
Just wanted to give everyone an update on how 3point8 is doing. As of this writing, we’ve hit 177 pre-orders with 105 unique readers. That puts 3point8 at number 7 in the top ten. Remember, we need to be in the top 5 come September 30th,and the competition is closing fast, so please encourage everyone you know to order! And don’t forget to remind them to sign up for an Inkshares account first so they get $5 off…that means the book will only cost them $4.99!
I also wanted to tease that I’m planning to post a new excerpt along with next week’s update, so keep an eye out for that.
Also, I’d encourage everyone to check out other books on Inkshares besides my own, especially if you love to read. There’s some great stuff your credit and dollars can go towards. Personally, I had to back Polybius by John Hex Carter…who doesn’t love conspiracies, urban legends and video games?
Finally, thanks again for all your support…and despite having said that over and over, I truly mean it. To say I’ve been overwhelmed would be an understatement.

Dear family and friends of Frances,
Yay! We have a release date for LILY LO! NOVEMBER 27, 2018! One day after the second anniversary of Frances’s passing and in time for the holidays.
We’re grateful to the Quill team at Inkshares for helping to push the production forward steadily. We’ve been through copyedits, have a dynamite cover designed by May Key Lee, and are now reviewing the proofreader’s pass. We’re also gearing up a promotion campaign and will keep you informed. Thank you for keeping the faith.

"THE END."
These may be the most amazing pair of words we have ever typed.
After years of plugging away, we are beyond pleased to inform you that we have completed the final chapter of our novel, A Friend for Otter. We will now begin a thorough editing process, which will include sharing the completed draft manuscript with a group of advance readers for diverse feedback. Once we incorporate all the editorial changes, we will begin the publishing process, and we hope to have your copies out in time for Christmas.
Thank you to everyone for your support and patience. This has been an amazing journey, but for Otter and for us. We could not have done it without your backing and encouragement.
Sincerely,
Sylvia and Jesse
Hello all,
First, thank you all for your patience. Writing, editing, and then finalizing a project that you care about takes a lot of work, and a lot of time. It’s important to bring justice to the project by being patient, which at times was difficult as I had all of you—my backers—on my mind. I can’t wait to get this novel into your hands. But, I took my time, worked it through thoroughly, hired a reputable editor, Caroline Tolley, and turned my early drafts of Under The Rug into something I’m very proud of. And, the process is now moving forward as I’ve just submitted my manuscript to Inkshares.
Now, Inkshares will still have their editors take a look at it. But because I’ve had a professional editor already work on this with me, the process will move much faster than normal. The next few things I will be submitting to the Inksahres team are things like book cover, layout, author bio, etc. Soon Inkshares will communicate to me a realistic date for the release of the book. Rest assured however, that you, my backers, will receive your copies before it hits the bookshelves. That’s it for now. Will let you know something when I know something.
Happy Summer to all of our amazing The Wildlife Confessional backers,
I want to provide you with a quick update as summer begins to wind down - in addition to meeting our fundings goals this February, we have achieved two additional milestones this summer:
Hello, readers! Must be a tradition... my last update was at Memorial Day, and this one’s at the Fourth of July. I guess the next time you’ll hear from me will be at Labor Day. :-)
Big news - the book is now in the developmental editing phase. If you’re unfamiliar with the stages of editing, this is the phase where we take a close look at the story and find ways to strengthen it by changing key pieces. With the help of my Inkshares editor, I’ve taken HOW TO REMEMBER down to the studs. My awesome writers’ group helped me find a few lingering issues, and I submitted my revised outline today. We are one step closer to getting a great book into your hands.
I’ve also begun blogging with a bunch of great friends and Inkshares writers over at Writing Bloc. Follow us on Twitter at @Writing_Bloc for lots of great content! We’re currently working on a short story anthology, and I’m the lead on editing.
Last but not least, I’m nearing the midpoint of the draft for THE ENIGMA VARIATIONS, my latest project. All in all, the writing world is busy and good for me right now!
Let me know what you are all up to, readers - I’d love to hear from you! Happy week!
SPACE CREW. You’re all rad humans who deserve a post-launch update.
First: you should be getting your prizes. The last of them shipped out last week. If you were part of the Space Fleet, one of the top recommenders, or won one of the other giveaways during the campaign, you should have goodies soon. If you don’t see them by the end of next week, hit me up and we’ll figure it out.
Second: Toronto, I’m coming at you. I’ll be setting up a table at Ad Astra July 13-15. If you’re in the area, come say hi. Plus, there’ll be many other scifi goodies, and you’ll have a chance to meet Ed Greenwood, Robert J. Sawyer, Maria V Snyder, and more cool authorly folks.
Third: TTC could use some reviews. I’d prefer not to ask, but there’s some exciting news on the horizon, and seeing a few gold stars on Amazon will only help. If you’ve read the book--especially if you liked it--please take a minute to review on Amazon (US) or Amazon (CAN).
Thanks for being a solid crew.
