This looks like such a fun read! I loved books with little extras in the margins at that age. The idea reminds me of "So You Want to Be a Wizard" by Diane Duane (one of my favorites in middle school), but it looks like you've updated it and lightened the mood. Looking forward to reading more!

Quickly got into the character of Owen and his conflict with Bryan.  I like the way the narrator intercedes in the story without interrupting the action or storyline.  The unfolding plot line hooks the reader as you want to discover if Owen will evade his pursuers and exactly what is this new environment he finds himself in. Great for the young adult readers (and adults)!  I look forward to the remaining chapters: this was fun--and well-written!
