The large cockroach skittering, scuttling across my desk doesn’t faze anyone. Except me. No one else even looks at it, I just catch it out of the corner of my eye. People got used to this far too quickly. It wasn’t too long ago that a cockroach, any cockroach let alone one this big running across a desk, would have resulted in screams, shouts, and directives to KILL. Not anymore. Cypermethrin and . . .

Hey faithful pre-order summoners! I've been quiet for the past couple days because I was attending PAX Prime (a big gaming convention out here in Seattle), and I was swamped with glorious fun. I filmed this video before I went MIA. For a brief moment on Friday, I was in the Top 10! I believe this can happen again, with your help, of course. Here's a quick update to let you know how things are going. We're still up near the top, but we have some ground to cover. Thanks for tuning in, and keep evangelizing for me.

Also, here's a pic of me and a creeper.
I love this job.
Between short outings for some exercise, I spent most of my weekend sitting outdoors with my laptop writing. I wrote articles and guest blogs. I wrote emails to friends and followers to ask for support. I wrote notes on ‘A God in the Shed’. Despite it all being considered ‘work’, I loved every minute of it.
Fine, the part where I’m asking for support isn’t great because I feel like I’m soliciting people for money, but the writing part… especially the articles and notes; I could do that forever.
Of the notes I’m working on, I’m trying to figure out a spoiler-free way to explain the magic in ‘A God in the Shed’. It’s an interesting challenge because I think the subtle eldritch backdrop of the story is fascinating but I also don’t want to strip the mystery out of it.
In other news, I’m pleasantly shocked that we’re hanging on to the top 10 spots. As your ranks grow so do the chances this project will creep back into the top 5 in time for the end of September. The gratitude is the greatest surprise though. I’ve gone through it once but it still floors me how much appreciation I end up feeling for each order that comes in and keeps this project moving forward.
Keep reading and keep spreading the word my friends,
JF
I had real cause to celebrate today!
We hit 100 pre-orders! Thank you so much to those who stepped up in the last few days in response to my request to help us reach this important milestone. Now onto the next one -- more coming soon about the fun I have in mind for us to reach that.
Watching the pre-orders creep up to 100 was exciting for me today. Sunday is usually the day when I write my 15 pages for Blood Dawn. I began writing today with Blood Dawn sitting at 96 pre-orders, so I thought I'd stir up some coals and ask on my social media channels for 4 people to help.
Half of my writing day was spent in one of my favorite Starbucks here in Winnipeg. I completed a Lantis chapter, one that nearly had me in tears. Darn, why does storytelling make me so emotional? I've guess it's because I've walked with these characters for a year, so now that they are going through their dark moments, I really feel their pain. Well, I did my writing then went home for dinner -- and I was so pleased to see I had two pre-orders!
I only had a bit more to write, so I hauled my butt off to a Tim Hortons. This was a Jane chapter. Jane, Rena's adoptive mother, is a lot of fun to write. Think of her like a sort of posh, conniving incarnation of Hallmark's Francine. I didn't think the Jane chapter would be more than 4-6 pages, but I was wrong. I also didn't think it would be hilarious -- and I was wrong about that too. I had a hard time restraining my laughter as I wrote my way to the end of her chapter.
It was nearly midnight, and I hit 23 manuscript pages for the day. This one is a record! But if that wasn't enough, I checked my email and saw ... pre-order #100!
I really don't know what to say, so I'll hand it over to Wilson again.

Thanks, folks! You all rock!
Congratulations on pre-order 100! I'd like to see your book in the top 5 at the end.
