I would retire happily knowing that I put my all in to it
I like this. You used another character to point out that she was making a face without TELLING me she was. Though his description of it leaves me wondering what face it was since he doesn't say. A face of resignation? Disbelief?

who was driving the car with me and no equipment in it
For a professional that has seen a lot of fakes and presumably some real deals, she gets the creeps easily. I feel like she's dismissing her gut instinct/first reaction, which for the paranormal is never a good thing. Unless she gets the shivers even at convincing looking fakes too, but then I wonder about her instincts.
a shiver rolling down my spine.
