Chasing Ghosts
Chasing Ghosts
It’s Judy Blume meets Ready Player One. It’s an intimate coming-of-age story. It’s a tragic portrait of post-Vietnam PTSD. And it’s all happening during the outbreak of the global contagion that would come to be known as... Pac-Man Fever.
Rick Shingler sent an update for Chasing Ghosts

Thanks for taking an interest in this project.  It’s developing into a pretty gripping story for me, and I really hope it can find an audience.  The best part of it for me is feeling like I’m looking through a window into my own childhood as I research and authenticate elements of this story.  I just posted an update with a revised prologue and the first three chapters, which might begin to give a better indication of the direction the story is taking.  I hope you like what you see enough to place a pre-order!  Let’s get this thing into the running in this Nerdist contest!

It’s 7:48 in the morning, I haven’t even had my coffee yet, and I’m watching as they’re hauling my body out of the river. I’m an Upload, a clone. They’ve mapped my genes, replicated my DNA, made a copy, and now I need to solve my own murder.
Rick Shingler commented on Let It Be Spoken
I really like this idea, but I can’t help but think it would make a better play than prose story.  Imagine a couple of actors like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan chewing through material like this.  Throw in a disembodied voice offering insight and commentary from a neighboring cell and a recurring guard making his rounds, and it would practically be a new Beckett play.
