Jacob Zoller commented on an excerpt of Frost: An Otherworld Tale
I kind of agree with the comment below this. I’ve never done much first person work aside from a few short stories so I wouldn’t really know how to do it, but... I think maybe having it end with her going to bed, thinking about the next day? I think a few more paragraphs could really open up the end of this chapter.

Good work overall though, descriptive and clean.

In a few paragraphs it says she’s wearing a tank top and shorts. I think that she could use being "swept" in, or something a bit more forceful. Perhaps more worry on the mother’s part?

Concern clouded her classically elegant Audrey Hepburn eyes, and she wrapped a protective, if dainty, arm around my shoulders, pulled me inside and nudged the protesting door shut with her foot.

Chapter One, The Boy Who Speaks With Faelin.

The Hunters crept through the forest quietly, keeping a wary eye on their surroundings; any rock or tree could harbor a swift and painful death. The sun shone through the leaf canopy above them, dappling their cloaks with indistinguishable shapes in shadows, mottled colors weaved in to keep them well hidden. They left the river behind them, the noise from the water fading quickly. . .

I think that magic could be revealed in two separate incidents. One where magic is discovered by scientists, the second where said scientists bungle it up and the REAL magic users have to come out and fix everything. This way magic has been around for a while, but the actual magicians are new.

One thing that helped me a few times was just re-writing a chapter. Reading through it a couple times to memorize it, then get a blank document and put it all down again. When I did that I found that I frequently managed to add in a bunch of missing elements. You don’t have to discard everything, just keep the two side by side and pick out the best parts of each!
