Manu Saadia commented on Trekonomics

Dear Trekonomics readers, supporters and followers,

I am elated to announce that as of today, July 15 at 1700 hrs, Trekonomics crossed the midway point to its funding goals: copies pre-ordered.

We were featured in the New York Times: I had a long chat with Op-ed culture editor Anna North, who then distilled the contents of our conversation in a very nice article. You can read it over there: http://takingnote.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/07/10/a-star-trek-future-might-be-closer-than-we-think

There is more press coming. For the trekkers among you, I am slated to appear on the Random Trek podcast next week, where we will discuss an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise selected at random!

In the meantime, those of you who have not yet pre-ordered your copies, please take a minute to do so, as it helps us getting closer to our funding goal. For those of you who have already pre-ordered your copies, we cannot thank you enough for your support. If you could help spread the word, we would be even more grateful! Inkshares has a nifty referral program. You can make money every time someone you refer to Trekonomics become a backer.

All these mercantile considerations aside, I could not be more excited about the enthusiasm and discussion this project has generated. There seems to be a place in this world for a modicum of optimism, and that in itself is a happy thing to behold.

Thank you all,
Live Long, and Prosper

        Dear Trekonomics readers,

Felix and I had a chat with the Washington Post on Monday, which went live yesterday.

In case you haven't read it yet, you can go to the following URL: https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2015/07/07/what-the-economics-of-star-trek-can-teach-us-about-the-real-world/

We would like to thank Hayley Tsukayama, Brian Fung and Andrea Peterson for the spirited discussion and good humor. They are true Star Trek fans! Their technology and policy blog, The Switch, is one of these daily must-read for those of us who are intensely interested in the future. It is particularly gratifying to see our work featured in such highly regarded venue. Make it a bookmark! And follow each of them on Twitter.

There is more press coverage coming soon for Trekonomics, but all in good time...

Meanwhile, we would like to remind our dear followers to pre-order their copies of the book, as each sale brings us closer to our goal of delivering luxurious, library-worth, hard-bound books.

        As usual and as always,
        Live Long, and Prosper.
