Matt Kaye liked an update for The Life Engineered

Hello again dear readers!

Well, 'future readers'. The book isn't out yet. That is how time works.

I only have two pieces of news for you today on this glorious morning, but they are substantial. Well, maybe not substantial but they make me happy.

First, in an unheard of story; I have submitted my final revised draft for The Life Engineered to my editor ahead of schedule! Or at least on schedule. I'm not late. Years from now when I bemoan never having made it as an author I will blame it on my inability to follow the traditional methods of the craft and doing things on time. Working with Clete Smith, my developmental editor, has been an absolute joy. I had a feeling that he 'got' the book and understood the characters and where I wanted to go with the story. I don't know what the future holds for this series of books but if I can somehow manage to have Clete edit all of them, I think we'll have better books for it.

Second, and this one is particularly exciting to me; we have a new book cover illustration!

God dammit it's gorgeous isn't it? The illustration is the work of my friend Eric Belisle. Eric is an amazing artist who's done work for Wizard of the Coast and Paizo Publishing and many others. He's also one of the first people who read The Life Engineered and I wanted him to do the cover because I knew from his comments about the book that he would do it justice. As you can see, he hit that one right out of the park. Much like my editor, I hope to be able to work with Eric again in the future on more books. Check out his other works here and if you're looking for someone to toss money at for art, consider his services.

There's still some work to be done for the design but with this illustration as a foundation, we're looking at a very strong start.

On a final note for this day: if you missed my appearance on the Sword & Laser panel at Nerdtacular, check out this cleaned up and edited version of the panel.

Cheers,

JF

Matt Kaye liked an update for The Remains Of Civilization

    Hi enthusiastic fans and supporters,

I have posted chapter two and it is now online! The link is here.

Also, blogs everywhere are picking up! Okay, maybe not every blog, but John Robin blogged about it(kind of, he made a passing mention), Mr Hart's also blogged a bit about my book. So I would be lying if I'm saying that my book is languishing in ignorance, ut admittedly it could've gone better. Though I would say so far so good.

As of now, it is more or less 3% funded. Woot! You guys are showing overwhelming support and enthusiasm here. With just a bit more preorders, maybe things will finally take off and hit it big time. Then I can afford lunch. Because writer spend too much money on coffee, not that much on lunch.

For those followers and casual readers who have not yet purchased their copies, I warmly recommend you to do so. Every order helps, every order is going to be needed for me to be able to buy KFC's family bucket. The link to preorder is here.

In the meantime, for those who enjoy epic fantasy instead of sci-fi, I strongly recommend you check out blood dawn.(https://www.inkshares.com/projects/blood-dawn).  John had been very helpful and supportive so far, so I wanted to help him as much as possible. It's awesome.

So until the I got 1,000 preorders, please keep spreading the word about the science fiction comedy known as The Remains Of Civilization, and do not forget to pre-order your very own copies. That would help. A lot.

    Sincerely,

    Yicheng Liu

Matt Kaye liked an update for The Tulip Factory

This whole experience thus far has been so exciting and inspiring.  I still can't believe how many people have supported me and backed The Tulip Factory.  Truly means everything to me! Sales have slowed down a bit which isn't a bad thing, just means I need to try a little harder to reach more people. That's where I have a huge favor to ask of you...You all have been SO wonderful by preordering and sharing my posts, but tonight I humbly ask if everyone could email the preorder link to just one person.  Just ONE person that you know hasn't ordered or maybe hasn't even heard of my book.  You are the reason I am where I am today with all 600 (almost) in book sales!!  Can't THANK YOU enough!!
