Anthony Jones III liked a chapter from The Sleeping Man

It was a grey sky above a cracked grey desert. No living thing crossed this place. The name first given to it by man was long forgotten and the true name had never been spoken. It was simply The Desert. It was an ancient place hoarding time as desperately as thirsty men kiss water.

The Sleeping Man walked across the dry, baked ground, counting his steps carefully. There was no landmark, no star, no wind to guide his way. There were only instructions which had been carved into. . .

Anthony Jones III sent an update for Detective Diaries

    Hello, readers!

Welcome to our 2nd Detective Sunday! I hope everyone has been well, and hope that whatever you are pursuing in life pushes you to your maximum potential. For this Sunday, I’ll just go over what has been happening with me and my concerns for Detective Diaries that you all should know.

Well, I’m graduating pretty soon--actually next week, and I’m pretty excited to finally be leaving high school. I’m sure I’m one of the younger writers on Inkshares, and I see that as a bad and good thing. I lack experience when it comes to being an experienced writer, and what I mean by that is that I haven’t been exposed to plenty of things I write about. I like to envelope the reader in the scenery and put them in the shoes of my characters, but it’s pretty hard to get the full experience when you haven’t met a person that is this way or haven’t been in a huge city during the winter. I think of myself as a visual writer--someone who can make words hold meaning that can relate to my readers’ senses; however, I may just be thinking too much about it.

Moreover, the positive thing about being a young writer is that I can learn from those who has been doing the same stuff I have for a long time. There are plenty of helpful writers and readers on Inkshares that I have gotten tips from, and I appreciate their assistance. It’s hard trying to pursue something without any knowledge on your best approach to handle the situation.

Lastly, my concerns for Detective Diaries is pretty straight-forward. I know the amount of chapters I want to leave you guys on, but I’m wondering about when I should press that pre-ordering button. It has been bugging me for a while, but I believe I’m overthinking. I won’t tell you guys yet, but once I hit the chapter limit I set for myself, we’ll more than likely transfer to the next phase. At that point, we’ll have more people in our small community, and I’ll just have to reach out to people to hit the milestones we need to surpass to make this a reality.

Thanks for reading, and have a great Sunday!

    Until next time, Sixth.

One of the strongest points about this work is how the author sets the scene and world of the narrative without directly describing it. Interaction between the characters set from opposing viewpoints bring the world to life and allow the reader to delve in. Unfortunately, there's not more to read! (Yet)
