Love the concept, love the sample. I would like to see a more detailed synopsis that gives more insight into the characters and general plot. But I'm liking everything I see so far!

Nathan Cabaniss highlighted an excerpt from Tides of Dagon
Around Rowan, the half-dozen hovering Shrike drones linked  to her suit wheeled and spit 7.62x51mm NATO rounds with deadly accuracy, making a valiant effort to slow the advance of the slimy monstrosities. Rowan took cover behind a rocky outcropping and knelt to the ground. The HUD in her helmet flashed through virtual topographic maps, satellite imagery, and real-time enemy positions — then suggested a firing pattern with flashing red kill zones superimposed on enemy forces. The Tyr interface in her suit chirped for confirmation, and Mel keyed the firing initialization via a wrist keypad.

All right, so I finally figured out how to keep the "interactive"part of the novel intact for the Inkshares sample above. As it turns out, I'm not a moron, after all!

The way it works is very simple: at the end of each chapter, you'll find yourself faced with two choices, each available via clickable link that will take you to the next chapter of whichever story-line you chose. I've checked the links over and over again, so they should be correct, but if you feel like something's in error, do not hesitate to let me know.

So, for those of you who are still on the fence on whether or not to pre-order, hopefully the whopping seven chapters now available will help you decide to take the plunge. I've only included up to the chapter 3's (and remember, kids, this here's a branching story, so there's two chapter 2's, four chapter 3's, eight chapter 4's and so on... have I mentioned that writing an "interactive" novel is the best course towards insanity?)  I'll probably add a few more in the weeks to come, but the sample above should give you all plenty to chew over for now. I'd love to hear what you think of this whole crazy affair.

As ever, stay tuned. If all goes according to plan, the next update should bring with it a contest. What? You heard me.

The hollowed hole was enormous, spreading out at the base of the stairs, much bigger than was necessary for what the chamber was home to currently. Herr-Doktor Werther von Kroen drew the ermine-lined seal-skin coat about him in a futile attempt to stave off the cold. The fur piping about his raised hood had not cut the frigid wind that howled across the ice above, allowing gusts to stab Kroen’s eyes. Sheltered now from the tundra outside, tears escape. . .
