real life things are never flashy like in movies. It is toil, sweat and determination. Private detectives are not common in India :) But real crimes are there from small to large.
I saw many, while in IT several instances of robberies, thefts, cyber crimes. Couple of missing people scenarios and murders happening in the locality or linked to employees or the techno-parks or Software Export zones.
Truth is always strange. the simple mobile or laptop robberies were just light weight. Real complex was the partial cyber crime of credit card. Airport robbery was not this big, it was a small thing I used imagination and made it big :)
But the lady software engineer was an eye opener where I saw the multi lover syndrome for first time :) later I saw a few which were adultery cheating worst possible manipulative sex and back stabbing relationships. I have 4-5 stories more I plan for a next book
Anything can make a good story or a book. I’ve seen a bit of your excerpts, and I think there is potential, especially if you play up the comedy. I think that for these stories, your humour will be your greatest strength.
The Indian vernacular voice is very strong. This is both a strength and a weakness. It’s a strength because it’s unusual, it gives the story character, it has a lot of potential for humour, and it’s like a window into a new culture for most of us. It’s a weakness because it can sometimes make things more difficult to understand and read.
It’s like spice in your food: too much and you can’t eat it, too little and you might as well eat anything else. When you are finished writing, you will need to work very closely with an editor, and you will have to be very careful to not make it too much one way or the other.
I have been in IT for 20 years now. Did some globe trotting and seen things in IT not worth mentioning and worth mentioning :) Some real crimes and mysteries. Laptop vanishing from locked room and cupboard, mobiles in daytime in full office from the table. Credit card disappearing from secured office and locked drawer and later misused from within the offices. Crowded airport right under the nose a rucksack with laptop, camera and diamond earrings stolen. Last but not least a lady software engineer with 5 lover disappears and police suspect foul play. Enough to start a set of short stories for publishing a book? Your views dear experts please to guide me
