HHPG liked an update for Pilot X

Hey there, I thought I’d update you on the progress with Pilot X as it’s been wending its way through the publishing process.

First our AMAZING cover is finalized. You’ll see it updated on the Pilot X page here. Let us know what you think!

Just got the copy-edited manuscript back. Copy edit is where they not only fix punctuation but also make sure the style is consistent and such. It’s less intensive than the developmental edit I told you about back in June. Just tightens things up so it all makes sense and looks good on the page.

I sent that back Tuesday so we’ll hopefully be on our way to proofs and galleys soon!

All in all this means we’re still on target for a March 14 release. Thanks again so much for all the support.

Cheers,

Tom

    CHAPTER 4

The mob of Shepherd’s Crook, 1680 edition, stormed the home of the demon, sorcerer, and suspected vampyr Yulric Bile. As mobs went, it was pretty good. No elder went untorched. No young man went unpitchforked. Women wept and gnashed their teeth. John Farthing brought his new gun. John Cross had smithed some chains. Benjamin Moss broke down the door to his 100th citadel of sin, with some assistance from his son, John. Cider was drunk, hymns were sung, and a fine time was . . .

      Greetings All,

So it’s been awhile since last I updated, but it’s also been a hectic mess of conventions, deadlines, and submissions so...there.

CONvergence was great. All 250 ribbons I made were handed out. One of my fancy shmancy posters was vandal-eyesed, so clearly I made it. I played D&D for the first time and lots of people asked about my book (spurred on by said fancy shmancy posters.) All in all, it was a huge success.

But the BIG NEWS is: (Trumpet sound) An Unattractive Vampire is now available for preorder on Audible!  It will be released officially on August 23rd. So, if you need a bit of reading for when you’re stuck in traffic or catching Pokemon, you can listen to the sultry British tones of narrator Drew Campbell read my book to you. (Did I mention sultry British tones?)

      Other news:

After eight seasons, Our Fair City just had the final read-through...EVER!   Oh the wonder and glory of watching actors squirm over their character’s fates. The power. THE POWER! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! If you want to catch up before the end, including checking out the current season head over to iTunes or visit www.ourfaircity.com.

Also, for those writers amongst you, the submission deadline for Deathscribe 2016 is quickly approaching. Scripts must be in by July 31st. So, if you’ve a scary story to tell (in radio play format), then throw it on some paper (digital paper) and send it to Chicago! (via e-mail)

          2000 BOOKS!!!

          2000!

The number two  with three zeros after it.

This is amazing everyone. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my cold, dead writer’s heart (where all your favorite characters are killed for my amusement).

Such a monumental event deserves a monumental story...or at the very least...a stupid one. So here is the story of a stupid thing I recently did.

In my third or fourth year of college working toward a theatre degree, I took a class called Career Prep for the Actor in which my teacher really encouraged me to be a writer (because...my acting skills were so good.) Toward the end of this class, she asked us all to say one goal we would like to achieve in our career: a role we’d like to play, starting our own theatre troupe, that sort of thing. When it came around to me I said that I would like to go into a bookstore [full disclosure: I said Borders. RIP], find my book on the shelf, and buy it. Everyone laughed. "If you write a book, you won’t need to buy a copy of it."

I had to admit...they had a point. What I said was kind of stupid.

          STUPID LIKE A FOX!!!

THAT’S RIGHT FORMER CLASSMATES! WHO’S STUPID NOW, HUH? WHO’S STUPID NOW? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
          (A: Still me)

Thank you to the staff at Unabridged Bookstore here in Chicago for humoring the weird bald guy who wanted his picture taken at checkout.

          In other news:

Our Fair City, the audio drama that I write for, had it’s Season 7 launch party this weekend. It was the biggest affair to date with a giant replica of the in-story Dr. Montgomery Moro Memorial Museum and Historical House. For more about the event, check out my blog post with pictures and links to the audio tour made specifically for the launch. Also, stay tuned to Our Fair City on iTunes as one of my episodes should be coming up pretty quick.

And finally, as we pass the 2000 milestone, I can’t help but look forward to the next thousand books. Or hundred books. Or ten books. Look another person might want to buy my book, but the most likely way they’ll find out about it is by you spreading the word. And the easiest way to spread the word is to leave a review on Amazon. So if you haven’t composed a written review for the book yet, please, take a moment and do so.
Here I’ll even link you there through the magic of technology.

Once more with feeling: everyone, THANK YOU.

              SO CLOSE!

Order number 700 was just made meaning we’re only 50 preorders away from hitting the full publishing goal.

Dammit. @iamsteadman just ordered one as I was writing this.

Meaning we’re only 49 pre-orders away from hitting the publishing goal. (Thanks Mark!! Happy Eurovision!)

As a huge thank you for being in before the end here’s a little snippet from the book I won’t be putting up on the general page.

              THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

              LESSONS

“It’s so easy to teach you since I always know what you learned exactly four years before,” the Secretary had crowed. He instructed each version of Ambassador X in order each day so he would move from least experienced to most experienced.

The lessons usually came during physical labor.

Ambassador X would be digging up dirt to cart over for the building’s walls. The Secretary would come up and start drilling him.

“What are the four major types of Sensaurians?”

              “Overmind, Command, Soldier, Worker.”

What is the name of the Progon homeworld?”

              “Tiel”

What are the Sensaurian eating habits.

“We do not know as they refuse to dine in diplomatic situations.”

“Should you ever offer Progons food?”

“It is not necessary but they appreciate the courtesy. Only offer once as they see the insistence as an insult to their machine nature.”

“What are the Sensaurian wheeled containers properly called?”

“Buckets. They really are buckets even in translation. Hilarious.”

“Focus. What is unique about Progon evolution?”

“They are non-corporeal and had the lowest probability of reaching sentience of any known sentient species.”

And on and on, day after day, until the day before Ambassador X’s original arrival.
