Readers,
THIS IS IT. TODAY IS THE LAST DAY.
Today is the day that funding for Lucky ends. This is your last chance to order a copy and boost our numbers towards the fully funded mark of 750. We are depressingly far behind that number right now, so unless all of you have 50 friends who will also buy a copy of the book before midnight, we’re not going to make it.
I have applied for a funding extension from the Inkshares Overlords in hopes of being able to meet the 750 goal, but as of the sending of this update I have not received a reply, either positive or negative. I am hoping for a positive outcome, but at this point it’s just a hope.
I’d like to add that I have gathered many valuable insights from this funding journey with Inkshares: I feel that storytelling could be considered my "calling" in life. Even though I’m primarily focused on finishing and publishing this novel, I have a bunch of other stories in the back of my head clamoring to be let out. It’s exciting beyond belief and I look forward to being able to share these stories with you in the future.
Again, thank you all for your undying and unwavering support. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue into the publishing process.
- Webster
To all readers:
Chapter two has been uploaded for The Technicolor Prohibition! Editing for chapter 9 is underway, and I am hoping those who are reading get more about the story from this chapter. I will be uploading character profiles and other snippets of history from The Technicolor Prohibition on my site in the coming weeks (www.jessicascarter.com). Thank you so much for checking out my novel and for following!
And a big thanks goes to my first three funders! You guys are awesome, and I can’t wait until you get the gifts I have in store for you.
Jessica
Psst...this message is to all those who have preordered DHM.
Chapter 5 is now available for your consideration. Your codes for chapter 4 will give you access to the chapter, just follow the instructions in the email Isidore sent.
And for those just following the book with interest, you can get access to the full first draft as it’s being written. All you need to do is preorder the book and sign up for my email newsletter so that I have permission to send you email updates like the one that contains instructions on how to read the book. You’ll want to read chapter 5, trust me, if only for the chimichangas.
I’ve just started writing chapter 6, but I’m hoping to have it done either today or tomorrow. I really want to see how close to done I can be with the draft by the end of the month. Trouble is, more cool stuff keeps getting added to the book, so the length has so far expanded by two chapters. Like the chimichangas. Did I mention the chimichangas?
Have a great Tuesday, and feel free to let me know what you think of the book in the comments here, or on Facebook, Twitter, or hit me up via email: amanda [at] goldleafbooks [dot]com.
Okay, back to writing!
So something happened overnight that I wasn’t expecting. We hit the light publishing goal. No matter what, this book is getting published, and I have you generous, handsome, intelligent, marvelous people to thank for it.
I can’t stop smiling.
On the writing front, I am one scene away from finishing chapter 5, and then I’ll send it out to all the backers. Isidore has left Ess-Dee behind, and next she’s heading into the heart of Oh-See, the house of mouse. It’s going to be a blast to write, especially as someone who used to work there.
I want you to know I won’t stop hustling on this project. I still have the Machina Crew rewards for those that refer people to buy the book. Those referrals might be easier now that it’s guaranteed that they will get their book in their hands. I still have 57 days to see if I can get this book fully funded. But even if I don’t, the book you receive will be professionally edited, with a professional cover and all the love I have for Orange County poured into its pages.
Today though, no hustle. Just writing. Well, writing and smiling.
