Jamison Stone liked an update for Blood Dawn

Today I want to let you all know about a very special guest on my blog, Jamison Stone, whose fantastic book, Rune of the Apprentice, is funding here on Inkshares. Jamison writes immersive epic fantasy set in the Universe of Numinous. I fell in love with Rune of the Apprentice at once--especially when I saw Jamison's maps!--and think if you enjoy epic fantasy, then you'll definitely want to check it out and consider backing this great project:

Jamison is my World Builders guest today, where he shares some of his philosophy about world building. You can also check out his amazing hand-drawn maps and read an excerpt from his book. I hope you all enjoy!

    Happy Friday Everyone!

I just did an epic interview with writer John Robin over on his blog World Builders and wanted to share an excerpt:

What do you enjoy the most about world-building?

    • Other than experiencing that world myself first hand, addressing the needs our current adolescent population—more specifically, addressing their lack of real mythic resonance which relate to their daily lives, and their deep psychological need for a relevant mythology.

What aspects of the world do you have to figure out before you start a story?

    • As an example, in RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE I used C.G. Jung’s psychology of archetypes and the collective unconscious to adapt Joseph Campbell’s theory of the Monomyth (updating it to be relevant for Millennials who now live in a “Collective Technological Age”) to create the foundations of a contemporary “Modern Myth”. As I wrote the actually story, however, I needed to constantly reshape and mold my “Hero’s Journey” adaptation to fit with the specific character arcs of RUNE’s hero and heroine, respectively.
    • In short: In RUNE, these two aspects of the story—World and Character Arc—are intimately intertwined and constantly evolving together.

What tips do you have for aspiring fantasy writers on how to create a solid, believable world?

    • Live there in your mind. Let the world permeate you—and you the world. If, through dream, inspiration, and imagination, your mythic world can become as familiar as your waking one, you are on the right path!

John had some really great questions in the full interview and it is totally worth taking a look at! Additionally, for those of you who love epic world building, John Robin is the author of  BLOOD DAWN. I highly encourage you to take a look and if you like what you see, definitely pre-order!

Enjoy your Weekend, everyone! And as always, feel free to zap me a tweet @StoneJamison or leave a comment here on Inkshares!

P.S. For those of you on the fence about pre-ordering RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE my  interview at World Builders should  be a great way for you to learn more about the meta theory behind RUNE and why this book is so unique and such an interesting read! Enjoy!

There are moments in the history of people and planets when myth, legend, and inescapable destiny rule. Such times are bound by prophecy and once begun, are impossible to halt—for the fates of all, unknowingly intertwined, move toward a numinous end that will not be denied.
