Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for It's All Fun and Games

Happy Tupdatesday?  That just doesn't have the same ring, does it?

Hi everyone!  Sorry for the long delay between updates.  Or perhaps you're welcome for the long delay between updates if you're sick of spam email from Inkshares.  Either way works.

So today is the last full day of the Nerdist Novel Contest, and I want to thank all of you one more time for supporting me throughout this process.  I've no doubt taxed the patience of many of you, and I'm grateful for your indulgence.

I don't want to jinx us, but at least as of right now WE ARE IN THE TOP FIVE!  IT'S ALL FUN AND GAMES IS GOING TO COME TO LIFE!

Of course this is a great opportunity for me to toss out one last request to those of you "following" the book who have not yet clicked the preorder button.  There's about a hundred of you - that's a lot!  If you're going to suffer through my update emails you may as well get something out of it!

This is also a good opportunity for one last request for you to spread the word about the book.  Do you know someone who enjoys a fun fantasy, or has a kid who does?  Andrew read it at 8, Danielle at 10, and my friend Bobbie's son read it at 12 or so.  In the words of my friend and HS English Teacher J Pappas, "It deserves to be published."  Why not suggest they get in now when the preorder is free rather than later when they have to shell out real money?

Look for another update once things have been finalized within the contest and the ts crossed and is dotted with Inkshares.  In the meanwhile, I will leave you with some endorsements of my book over the last week or so.  At least I hope I will.  I've never used this editor before.

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for Single Version

Nearing 400 readers this morning, which feels pretty incredible. Thank you, everyone, for supporting me and SINGLE VERSION.

This is a friendly reminder that the Nerdist Collection Contest ends tomorrow, 9/30, just over 36 hours from now. I'm sitting in 7th place, and to be successful I need to jump into the top 5. As of this writing I am 80 readers out of 5th place. A lot. But not at all impossible.

If you have any siblings, co-workers, roommates, castmates, spouses, best friends, close friends, or frenemies you want to share the information with, now is the time to do it! Facebook is great at driving people to the page, but emails and personal recommendation go even further.

It takes a few minutes and costs five bucks. Every order counts, every order helps. I couldn't have made it to this point without your help, and no matter what happens I'm extremely thankful for that. I'm thankful for you.

This is the final push. We're in striking distance.

This is an update of updates!

      Nerdist Comp Update

So we're just about at the end of the Nerdist competition, and it's looking like
Ghosts of War is going to be able to hold onto 18th place. Now that may not be a winning position, but to be 18th out of 335 other entries is pretty dang great, and that is thanks to the 140 of you awesome people who picked up one or more copies during the comp.

You guys have also helped make Ghosts of War the 13th most popular currently funding book on Inkshares, how cool's that? (and it's only just out of 12th) After the competition ends and the winners shift into 'In Production' mode, it'll move up to the 8th most popular funding book. Very cool.

      Cover Update

In the last few days you may have noticed a slight change to the cover of Ghosts. Well your eyes aren't deceiving you. I'd noticed that when it was shrunk down (like on the Nerdist leaderboard) that the title wasn't very clear in red, and that Cole didn't seem big enough.

      So I remedied the problem.

      Book Update

I am happy to report that there were some words written this week that will actually be in the book and weren't just an Inkshares update. Some of them have come through doing a few edits and additions to existing chapters, quite a few were in expanding some outlines for forthcoming chapters and there were even a couple of hundred words that were completely brand new and gloriously shiny.

Now that the competition is over I'll be able to focus much more on the writing side of things. All that promotion can get very draining on the creative flow.

      Did someone say competition?

You might have seen it on the project page but in case you haven't...

So if you're on of the 140 followers yet to hop on the Ghosts Train, hopefully this might tempt you to come aboard. We've got a 50% conversion rate going so far on followers to readers, and I'd love nothing more than to make that 100%.

In closing, I'd like to defer to Mr Jesse Pinkman to sum up my feelings about the success we've brought to Ghosts of War thus far.
