Getting to know John and Zack well over their time in the community, I feel confidently they did not start a campaign just to collect email addresses, both ran great campaigns that for various reasons didn’t ultimately get them what they wanted for their career. I don’t think that is going to be an uncommon thing. I think it is safe to say we’ve all learned quite a bit in the Inkshares environment, and some people are going to decide it’s not a good fit for them.

Every reader they brought here could be a new reader for you. That sure sounds like an upside to me. They could be a new reader unless you did something like say, berate the author on his book page. Maybe next time someone bails on the site, send him/her a DM wish them luck and ask them if they’d push your book to their audience?

Amanda Orneck liked an update for Origin

So for those of you reading/interested. I am planning Origin to be an epic, multi part book series that covers many aspects of the Universe I have/am dreamed/dreaming up. The first in the series is mostly Science Fiction, however the Origin universe is an existence of infinite possibility limited only by my imagination which has been described with colorful adjectives such as "crazy", "mad genius", or less colorful ones like "vast". There are fantasy themes like magic and mysticism which I may try to explain in a Sci-Fi way (mostly involving creatures or the effects of the magic) but mostly are just presented as-is.

To delve further into my rabbit-hole, I have a blog at eightysixsanity.tumblr.com that I use to write out and share some of my ideas and will give insight into reading Origin. I try not to have any spoilers there.

Uh, yeah. So do the thing. Or don’t, it’s all cool. Thank you for reading if you decide to.

Amanda Orneck liked an update for LOUISIANA BLOOD - A Chandler Travis and Duke  Lanoix mystery

Yahoo...finally I discovered Random.Org to solve my raffle picking strategy!  This fine site generates random numbers between 1 and 100 which enabled me to remove the stress of trying to link my Grand Prize Draw to a UK lottery...which sadly only goes up to 60!

So, after some embarrassingly early selections of family members!!! The winner at number 16 in the last hundred orders is...drum roll...Kyle James.  Contact me through DM or email me at touchwoodpicturesltd.com with a paypal address so I can speed $100 to your in tray.

Meanwhile, the  first chapter of BRUGES BLOOD the follow up novel to LOUISIANA BLOOD is up for comment on INKSHARES.    Also anybody that has a few credits can grab Louisiana Blood HERE at a reduced price.  Happy weekend!

Also, I changed some stuff in the Draft Excerpt, should make it more readable. I overlooked proofreading the uploaded text.

Friends, might I suggest we take the concern over trends on Inkshares to the forums? @Richard Saunders  created a thread there, and I’m sure @Zack Jordan  would appreciate the political discussion move off his funding page.

I look forward to hearing what is next in store. Things sound intriguing!

@Richard Saunders  I don’t believe credits refund as those are promotional items given by Inkshares with the intention of reader retention.  Credits have a limited shelf life, and expire if not used. At least that is my understanding.

But since Zack is saying he’s leaving Inkshares, chances are the loss of credits on behalf of his readers will not deter the building of his audience. I know personally that whether credits refund or not is not a factor on my interest in an author after their campaign is ended in whatever method they choose.

All the best @Zack Jordan . Toss us an update when you’re ready to reveal your master plan. I for one can’t wait to read your book.

Amanda Orneck liked an update for One Murder More

                  Time to bare  (almost) all.

Yesterday I had a heart-to-heart with a best-selling thriller writer.  Since we agreed to keep our  candid conversation anonymous, I will refer to her here only as "Madame X".

Madame X and I discussed my goal of becoming a full-time writer  in 9.5 years.  (I’m six months into my 10 year plan!)  Madame X  strongly believes that maximizing  online reader reviews of One Murder More  is the most important step in that plan; that reader reviews are more important even than books sold when starting out!  She explained this is because my likely "next reader"— the one who is considering my book, but uncertain—will usually make that decision largely based on reader reviews!

Many of you have  already written  a reader review for me on Amazon—thank you!! If not, please consider this a heartfelt plea to do so. And if you gave  a copy of the book to someone else, would you please forward this request  to them and see if they are willing to leave a review? (You/they don’t need to have purchased  my book on Amazon  to review it there.)

                  http://www.amazon.com/One-Murder-More-Kris-Calvin/dp/1941758975/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1463751912&sr=1-1&keywords=one+murder+more

Instructions: go to the above link (or when on Amazon  put One Murder More in the search bar), scroll   to "leave a review", choose a star total and (optional) leave a few sentences about what you like (or don’t like) about  the book. (Please don’t let concerns about "what you might  say" stop you from leaving a review, star totals alone are  helpful!)

(If you are a member of Goodreads, please  choose a star total there,  or copy and paste your Amazon review on GR, that’s a big help, too!)

I’ve been stalled at 74 reviews for several months and am hoping to get over 80 this week! Would you please help?

Meanwhile, I’m still writing!  If you’re a writer, I hope you are, too. If you’re a reader, happy reading!

                  Kris
