G. Derek Adams liked an update for She Is the End

PEOPLE there are FIVE of us tied for the fifth place spot. I find this hilarious and intriguing.

Is this the natural progression of most campaigns? I want to see a graph of past contests! Do we all know exactly the same number of sci-fi fans/old college friends/grandmas? Does our socioeconomic status inform our social network and reach, and therefore predict the number of people we know who will be willing to support us in this contest after exactly this amount of time has passed? I HAVE THEORIES.

Anyway, my computer is giving me an error every time I try to upload a new piece of art for you, so I'll have to do it at work tomorrow. In the meantime, just know that it's incredible to me to know that 46 real, live people have pre-ordered She Is the End.* And none of you cancelled your orders after you saw my dumb video!!!

Thank you, again, so much!

Cara

*I can imagine the urge emerging to use separate email addresses so you can order again and appear to be multiple readers, but NO DO NOT DO THAT. Contests are short, life is long.

    G. Derek Adams liked an update for The Life Engineered

    Fellow sentients! Greetings.

I am incredibly excited about the next few steps in the development cycle of The Life Engineered. I’ve written my acknowledgements and dedications. I’ve sent in my final draft and will soon get the copy edited version to review (I will have read this book so many times you guys…) but the most exciting is that we’re nearing a final cover! We have the illustration. We have the… title… I guess. We’re soon going to have the logo for the Sword & Laser Collection and our designer has already sent us some great concepts that we are debating internally.

But I’m going to show you exactly none of that. Not because I don’t want to, but because I can’t. It’s too soon.

Instead, I’m going to ask you for your support again.

Do you know what question I get the most from people who have read The Life Engineered? “When’s the sequel?”. It is a super flattering question and each time I stammer that I’m working on it. Make no mistake; I am. However, with The Life Engineered releasing in March and having to give the first book some breathing room after release, I have several months with nothing on my plate! There are a few projects in the works that I’m not at a liberty to discuss yet but I have this hole in my schedule that I need to fill.

So I’m filling it with this: A God in the Shed

Go check it out. If you enjoy what I do and want to see more of it, the best thing you can do is support another project of mine. I swear I’ll leave you fine sentients alone for a while after this one, but if you could toss me a pre-order and help me be in the Top Five for the Nerdist Collection contest, I would love you forever and would be in an increasingly good position to create more content for you to consume. If each of you were to pre-order a single copy, we'd be in very good shape.

Support the arts as they say.

      G. Derek Adams liked an update for A God in the Shed

      Greetings friends!

Let me start with the expected words of gratitude:

      • If you pre-ordered A God in the Shed, thank you. This means the world to me. Giving a creative the power to build something and have an audience for his work is awesome and the very meaning of the tired old phrase : “Support the arts”
      • If you’re still not sure if you want to pre-order, well, no pressure buddy. I’m going to be adding more content and explaining more details about the world and story I want to tell with A God in the Shed. There will be plenty of reasons to support this project within the next few weeks.
      • If you’re following this project because you want me to notice your own book that’s being funded, well good news; if I haven’t already pre-ordered your book, chances are I will. I simply got a lot of this kind of followers so it’s taking me some time (and some credits/money) to support my fellow authors. Hopefully i get to throw some support your way before I run out of resources. I hope you’ll consider being more than a follower and also pre-order A God in the Shed. It’s going to be a good book and to be completely honest, I do pay more attention to fellow writers who support my project.

Friends, I do not come here with only words of thanks. I also have news. Nothing earth shattering but a few little things.

First, if you look at the Inkshares page for A God in the Shed, you’ll notice that I’ve reworked the book synopsis, description and even the ‘about the author’ section.

Second and more interesting, I’ve added a link to a PDF sample of the first three chapters. It’s still a bit rough but you’ll get a gist of the tone and feel of the world and characters.

Third and last, I’m working on a book trailer video. If you’ve seen the one I made for The Life Engineered, I’m hoping to do something in the same vein. So look out for that (or wait for me to send an update about it).

One more time, thank you for your support. I don’t know if you realize how important this is to me and how much every little contribution means. You guys are awesome.
