How far in the future is this? I’d think if we have nanobots, we’d be able to remove wine stains. Or have clothing that is impervious to liquid. I dream of a future where everything is waterproof. :D

OK. So this is a thing but, as much as I like mysteries, I don’t enjoy divining what vernacular means without sufficient context. This could just be my ignorance showing though, if what "half" signifies is obvious to everyone else.
