Dan Flores created a forum thread: I cannot advance beyond the first submission page
Hello everyone.  I’m very new here and I am having some trouble getting started.  I’m trying to enter the Nerdist contest but I keep receiving an error message when I submit the information on the first entry page (working title and genre).  It doesn’t tell me what the error is or how to fix it.  I’ve changed the title multiple times but I keep receiving the same message: Hmm, it looks like we had one or two problems.  See below.  I cannot advance beyond this.
Does anyone have any advice regarding how to fix this?

Indeed, welcome! If you’re looking to find all winners from previous contests, check out this blog post.

A good start would be to follow them, their projects, and use the forum to learn from the masters! You can bring anyone into a conversation by using their name in a comment (for example, @Thaddeus Woodman ).

    Best of luck!

        Hello all!

I’m Joseph Terzieva one of the survivors of the first Inkshares contest along with @G. Derek Adams @JF Dubeau @Jim McDoniel @Nick Scott and Noa Gavin @Paul Inman

You can ask me questions by slapping and "at" symbol in here and typing my name. You don’t even need to be in a dark room, facing a mirror.

The secret to winning is just to be aggressive as hell. Sure, you’ll annoy everyone around you for a month or so, but listen. You’ve been a good friend to them, and they owe you. Plus, it’s your dream, and if the only thing standing between you and your dream is aggressive queries, you’re in good shape.

Also, don’t put in your description that we should read your book because you’ve wanted this since you were a kid. Sound advice from someone who’s been there. I did that. So did everyone else. Give us a reason to care about the story. Pull us in. Let us sup upon your delicious words.

          Hello Nerdist Authors,

I thought I’d dedicate some space in our forum for new authors coming in through the Nerdist Space Opera Contest to say "hi", meet other authors/readers, ask questions, etc...

You may find it useful to look at some of our previous contests as well; https://www.inkshares.com/our_contests

          Cheers!

          Thad

Going in without polish is going to be hard. That being said I did exactly that. When the first Sword & Laser hit I was planning my book and about a month out from writing. I quickly whipped something up and jumped in. It was stressful, don’t expect to get much writing done when you are campaigning.

Nothing like a trial by fire to vet an idea, and as an added benefit submitting a book to Inkshares is very low risk. If your funding is not successful it returns to draft state and you can attempt to fund it again at a later date when you feel ready. You’ll retain the book’s followers and any pre-orders will be refunded. Aside from the stress associated trying to fund a book (which is completely up to you,) there is little reason not to throw a book in the mix.
