Dave Barrett liked an update for She Is the End

Hm hmm hmm.

Tra la la.

What? What's that, you say? Something... happened?

Hmm. I suppose I should read the latest message from Inkshares CEO Jeremy Thomas...

AHHHH! CHANGES ARE COMING!!!

Here's a quick rundown, my dear friends, family, and followers:

New total pre-order goal: 750 instead of 1,000
New tier for "light" publishing (light editing, limited marketing and distribution): 250 pre-orders
New pre-order price: $20 for trade paperback + ebook, $30 for hardcover

There are some other changes, but you should just read the whole announcement to get a sense of what is to come.

I've put 14 years of development and 5 years of writing into this manuscript. Alex is a brutal developmental editor (love you, honey!). I'm so confident in this book, and I really think the light publishing track will produce something that I will be proud of... but I still want to shoot for the gold. I want to reach 750 pre-orders. I want to send you all signed first-edition copies of my gorgeous, illustrated book!

So... onward! If you know of anyone who might want to order my book, tell them to order before Oct 30th at noon to get it at the lower price.

And thank you, really, you who have already ordered. Thank you.

NOW, AN UPCOMING EVENT:

I have acquired a promoter (who is very enthusiastic and also particularly smart and beautiful). Leah has arranged a reading + costume contest + photo booth + scifi trivia event at Mugshots Coffee Company this Friday night!!! Is it crazy for me to suggest you drive to Minneapolis if you're not from here? I DON'T CARE! Come to this event!

Look at this postcard she made to advertise it:

And she's been making these graphic thingies that are pretty cool, too:

And she even made this author quote thing from that rant I went on in an earlier update!!

Look at all this! Is this what it feels like when people believe in you? This is WEIRD but also COOL and I like it in the sense that I've worked really hard on this book and now people are seeing value in it and talking about it, which is GREAT. But I'm also, you know, hyperventilating with anxiety from all the pressure, hahahahAHAAHAHahahaha. It's all good, don't worry. It doesn't count as bravery if you're not scared.

Thank you, Leah. You're amazing. And the rest of you are amazing, too!

I hope to see you Friday...

Dave Barrett liked an update for The Catcher's Trap

      Hello Friends

Last week you received an e-mail from Inkshares announcing significant changes in their platform. These changes have various implications; the most important, though, is that pre-order prices go up, but the funding goal goes down to 750. This means that as of October 30th (when these changes will be rolled out) The Catcher’s Trap will have surpassed its new funding goal!

These are fantastic news. Some great Chilean swears can perfectly portray how happy I feel, but I don’t think they translate well, and it would probably be frowned upon to share them anyways.

Of course the work doesn’t end here; the work starts here. I have to finish a manuscript that I will feel proud showing to the folks at Inkshares, work with their team to turn this book into reality, convince Ronald D. Moore to read the book, sign a contract with SyFy network, agree to a film adaptation directed by James Cameron and schedule my photoshoot for the cover of Entertainment Weekly. As you can see, lots to do.

I want to thank each and every one of you who supported me through this campaign. This is a dream come true and I owe it to you: old friends and new friends who decided to give my book a chance.

If you are reading this, and you have not pre-order yet, please do so. Prices are going up at the end of the week, and you’ll be missing out on owning a first edition of a book destined to be HUGE  (trust me on that one)

I will continue pushing sales and sharing updates through social media, so find me on twitter @RHfromTheGlen or the book’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/catcherstrap.

      Have a great week.

Hey folks! Here's another book that's right on the cusp of getting to the preorder goal. It's 160 copies away from the magic number of 750 copies. Give it a look-see!

Hi folks! Been a few weeks and I hope everything is great where you are.

Just wanted to check in and let everyone know that this is the last week to pre-order SINGLE VERSION for the low price of $9.99. On October 30, through the end of the funding period, the price will go up to $19.99. So this is the perfect week to order yourself a copy or to make recommendations to your peoples.

Here's the awesome part. SINGLE VERSION is less than 170 orders away from hitting its publication goal. Less than 170! That's within reach. That's right down the block.

What do you think, Dr. Brundle?

        "That's flat out doable."

        I think so, too.

Thank you, everyone, for all that you've done already. The excitement builds.

Dave Barrett liked an update for I Think You Dropped This

          Hello all!

So as I'm sure many of you may have heard Inkshares is changing their funding options.  As of October 30th they will be dropping the funding goal to only 250 preorders, the other side of that is that the preorder price is going up to $20.  Now I of course think that my book is worth even as high as $21 but I'm biased.  So you have five days to get a copy of I Think You Dropped This for the low low price of $9.99!  Many of you have already ordered a copy and for that I am grateful and for those that haven't I appreciate you following the progress.
If I may ask another favor please spread the word around to anyone that may be interested even in the slightest.  I have only until November 17th to reach this goal and we're only at 73 preorders.  It's around 29% of the way to the new goal for the lite publishing option.  I understand that it may not be the easiest thing to pitch... I mean during the Nerdist contest I went to see Chris Hardwick perform stand up and pitched my book to anyone there that would listen and didn't see a single preorder.  But that just means that they're not as awesome as all of you!
If you'd be so kind here is a link you could share: http://bit.do/ithinkyoudroppedthis

Here is a random thought about Back to the Future:  In BTTF3 it's stated that Marty couldn't get Doc back to 1985 from the old west because the fuel line was ruptured and the gas leaked out.  In the original there is a bit of dialogue between the two shortly after the time machine first jumps Einstein one minute into the future where Marty asks Doc if it runs on Unleaded and Doc replied that it unfortunately needed a little more of a kick and that it ran on electricity.  Even if it was converted back to gas after the addition of Mr. Fusion they still could have taken the gas and fuel line out of the time machine that Doc sealed off in the mine that Marty and 1955 Doc fixed up.  Now why didn't they do this?  Because then there wouldn't be a movie.
Back to the Future is a near flawless movie, the sequels not so much but still awesome.
With any luck maybe someday there will be someone sick in bed rereading my book the way I'm rewatching Back to the Future pointlessly picking apart minor details.  Well, one can dream.

Thanks again for all your help and support.  Even if I don't hit my goal I'm so much further along than I had ever expected!

Hey Mary - do you qualify for the "light edit" option?  If so, that would be a great way to go, considering there's not going to be a ton of text to edit in the first place!
