Craig A. Munro liked an update for Witherfist

      Witherfist is 25% funded!

Yes, you read that right. At 63 preorders, Witherfist is now a quarter of the way to being published. In her  ’G&S Contest: 11-25’ thread, Jane-Holly Meissner identified that Witherfist is currently placed 13th in the contest. That’s 13th out of over 350 submissions. Wow! We’re 26 readers behind the number 10 spot in the contest - and I’m hoping that we can close that gap by the end of the month.

I mentioned in a previous update that the Epic Fantasy Syndicate was considering selecting Witherfist as their book of the month. The recipient of that honour this month was my fellow contest entrant, The Living God, so a big congrats goes out to Kaytalin Platt!

      In other exciting news...

      • This weekend, I’ll be at GollanczFest in London, listening to panels on the sci-fi and fantasy community and the impact and importance of an author’s online presence. Don’t worry, I’ll be taking notes, which I’ll share in the Inkshares community forum.
      • I’m also happy to share that Jay Lockwood (author of A Beast Requires) was randomly selected to the win the art giveaway, which I ran for the first 50 readers to preorder. A pack dragon is currently preparing to paddle its way across the Atlantic with Jay’s prize.
      • Lastly but not least, I recently completed another author interview, this time with Jim Vines - so if you’d like to hear more of my thoughts on the writing process, have a peek.

Thanks for your support. We’re so close to the top 10 and making great progress with funding. I know we can make this happen!

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Rise

Rise received its first industry review!  It was posted on Monday, but I just found out about it today.

"Science fiction makes "Their world exploded" literal in this ensnaring SF mystery set on various fragments ("shells") of a shattered planet that still orbit around its glowing core. Set up by the Ancients, the shells host colonies of humans who depend upon the infallible technology of their ancestors to survive. But it is starting to fail, and Logwyn, a scribe, is sent by her dragon queen to interview four outsiders from different shells and cultures to piece together why. Armed only with a box whose contents she has not dared to view, Logwyn tries to draw the others out and gather up their separate but linked accounts, hoping to understand why the Ancient computers are losing data. Guthrie neatly if straightforwardly weaves together the four stories, letting events repeat without contradiction (no Rashomon here); his worldbuilding is complicated enough, including the characters’ ability to rewrite the "code" of reality, to require some simplicity of plot. Raising more questions with every answer, this volume should intrigue readers enough to look for the sequel."   Publishers Weekly

So exciting.  In other news, Inkshares is working hard with Amazon and Barnes and Noble to get the kinks in the release worked out.  Rest assured if you have friends that want to order from these two sites, they still can, especially if they’re after the Kindle version.  They can also go in to a Barnes and Noble store and order a copy there if it’s not already on the shelves. (I can’t believe I get to say that now!!)

Don’t forget to leave your own reviews and ratings on Goodreads and on the kindle version on Amazon.  And I’m still looking for some unique pictures of where people are reading Rise.

Check out who got his copy reserved!

Craig A. Munro liked an update for The Traveller’s Cup

The final hours are upon us, Space Crew.

Look at all the things we’ve done. Over 300 copies of this book are going to go out in due time, guaranteed. If any of you are miraculously waiting to order 450 more, I’ll take it, but I’m really happy with our progress.

When I have some time to sort out all the thoughts and feelings in my brainspace I’ll send out another update, but for now I just want to say thanks, and welcome to the Crew for anyone’s who’s joined us on this final push. Let’s all spam our networks one more time and then rest easy knowing this space book has become reality.

Reusing an old doodle because I don’t have my tablet to draw with at the moment and I’m feeling sentimental.

          Your Sappy Space Captain,
