I’ve had the same problem - especially with family and family friends who won’t use their credit cards online.

My new workaround is this (I know not an option for everyone):
My frequent flyer membership (I have to travel domestically a lot for work) now includes a travel wallet which works like a pre-paid visa -- load it up with  cash and spend it in local currencies. I discovered it allows me to generate a virtual card for use online (it has it’s own credit card number etc). I’ve generated one, am loading it with some cash, and will let these people use that card and give me to the money directly. At the end of the campaign I’ll just cancel the virtual card.

Boy do I ever need this option! A lot of the people I can get interested in this book will not likely buy it any other way. It will be very difficult to get enough pre-orders without PayPal - pretty please?

Would be nice to have PayPal as an option to be the receiver of royalties as well. I’m from the Philippines and my country is not listed here. So abit disappointing really.

I’ve reached out to Thad and he told me the PayPal option won’t be available soon... At least not for this contest.

@Cyber Mew  Looks like there won’t be a paypal option :( I still do hope you’ll grab a copy of my book.

BTW since I have heard back from Jeremy who’s no longer the CEO and the Paypal option fell through... kindly can I ask @Elena Stofle to shed some light on the process? why was it abandoned and any prospect of getting Paypal in the future? thanks!

@Cyber Mew I hope there’s an option. But still, I’m very happy to see you here!  감사해요!

Hi Jeyna! Yea I recently created the account lol. I’ve just sent in an email looking to see if they can enable PayPal or something. Would really not prefer to use my card if possible, since I still have money balance on my PayPal account though..

@Cyber Mew You’re here! I know how you feel. The credit card payment is very safe though, unless you don’t have a credit card. I too, personally struggle to buy books because I only have a paypal account. But I’m so glad I found you here! *overjoyed*

Will this be implemented? I’m trying to preorder a book but I would only use PayPal.

@Jeremy Thomas that’s amazing progress, very happy that you are leading an organizational cultural tradition of listening to your authors/base. Respect.

The buyers could also be given a choice - $10 via Inkshares or $11 via PayPal. My buyers would be willing to do that because security is a really big deal.

I have raised a creative thought with Jeremy to open an account that takes funds straight from author’s bank account, in favour of friends,co workers or acquaintances such as your friend who rather give cash since they can’t use paypal.

Today, if i use my credit card for a friend’s account, there’s a chance that i will come across as fraudulent. the idea i’m suggesting should be capped (let’s say 75 orders 10% so no-one will game the system and self sponsor), but can prove a viable option in my opinion (i can count 10 orders i missed because there is no paypal) .

As Jeremy said - paypal charges 8% which is, i agree with him, insane. but still might be the best solution. (i’d give 8% out of my royalties in order to get paypal)

Just had another friend who doesn’t want to order unless she can use Paypal.  She doesn’t want to use her credit card after having it compromised a couple of times in the past.  Even if Inkshares is using a secure credit card payment system, people who are not familiar with Inkshares are not necessarily going to trust it.

Having Paypal as an option can only be beneficial to Inkshares, in my opinion.

I think it would be a very helpful addition.  Also feels more secure for those who don’t want to give their credit card information (and could help deal with issues when the site isn’t properly processing the credit card).

I think we’ve all asked about that in one way or another :). Hope it happens someday.

@Jeremy Thomas @Thaddeus Woodman  Hey guys, i am getting a lot of requests to pay by Paypal. when do you think we can expect this to feature on Inkshares?
