GAMES! Short interactive fiction (text adventure) games featuring Eric Peterkin, the hero of "Murder at the Veterans’ Club".

If I wrote a mystery game in which you could solve a murder as Eric Peterkin, would you play it?

@Christopher Huang great idea! Just so you know I use Facebook for work only (i.e, won’t use it for my own book). But definitely will think about where else I can send it.

@Hesse Caplinger , @William Schiele , @Joni Dee , @Faith , @Peter Ryan , @Mike Donald , @RF Martin :

Guys, here’s the deal. I’ve written a post advertising "Equipment" on the Facebook page for my novel series (link here) but it’s not getting enough exposure to do Hesse much good. So I’m asking people with Facebook accounts to go share/like that post to get it out there.

Yes, I get 10 credits when someone clicks it and buys the book. Hopefully this person will NOT be one of you, but an external reader charmed by Hesse’s gritty prose and my slick showmanship. I believe this is how the credit system is supposed to work, and it’s going to take some effort on all our parts.

There are also a few posts further down, for other books. A share/like here and there (you don’t have to do all of them, just the ones you also like) would help the authors behind those books. I have already received credits for "The Traveller’s Cup", "A God in the Shed", and (as far as I’m concerned) "The Amaranth Chronicles" and I will not be receiving credits for them; also, I left off the referral code for the last two. However, they could all still use some support and exposure.

I expect to do this again--get all of you behind the effort--for each book the Syndicate chooses to back.

Eric had sought him out because Norris was a man who knew everything there was to know about the entertainment industry in London, and Eric’s favourite music hall had chosen that week to close down indefinitely--something about irreconcilable artistic differences between the main act and the London fire department.

I’ve uploaded a short story, "The Adventure of the Oxford Comma", to Wattpad. Here’s Eric Peterkin, the hero of "Murder at the Veterans’ Club", in a shorter, bite-sized mystery.

The current plan is to upload a new short story ... I don’t know, once a month maybe? Anyway, I hope people enjoy!

@A.C. Weston : Hmmm ... in spite of being a tale of murder, there’s very little on-screen violence. One woman punches out someone at one point, and there’s a knife fight described in someone’s personal history; and of course there’s the scene of the crime, which, being a stabbing, could involve a bit of blood depending on the director. I guess it would be a G, or PG at the most.

Eric Peterkin, the protagonist, could be played by Aidan Turner, maybe; or, at least, his eyebrows could.

Colonel Peterkin could be Greg Evigan, if Mr. Evigan could pull off a good British accent--I say Greg Evigan because Greg Evigan in the 80s looked a bit as I imagine Colonel Peterkin might have looked as a young man.

Ben Whishaw as Avery Ferrett would basically be reprising his role as Sebastian Flyte in "Brideshead Revisited", only replacing alcoholism with an obsession with the occult.

Those are the characters whom I expect to recur in future books/episodes if this became a series, though I don’t know if Colonel Peterkin really counts as a "main" character.

I think if this novel went to the screen, I’d insist on a a little bit of rewriting to make it a different murderer in the denouement. That way readers who already know the book can try to figure it out along with Eric all over again!

Ooh oooh I have a question! Actually, lots of questions, but I’ll start with these:

First, what "rating" would you give your book, in terms of graphic violence? This isn’t a judgment thing, just genuinely curious.

Second, who would you cast as an actor to play your main characters in a movie/tv show of your book?

The discussion thread is now open for "Murder at the Veterans’ Club", a Peterkin Investigates mystery. I figure we’ll keep the comments section in the book’s page for updates and those comments for which we don’t expect direct responses, and put the back-and-forth discussion here. Or something. It’ll probably not work out quite like that, but it’s nice to have an extra avenue for discussion.
