@Christopher Lee Thank you, I’ve been working towards getting a bank account, this is all new to me. I recently turned 18 so I can finally get my account, sadly I won’t be able to set up my preorder campaign this weekend. Wasn’t able to get it done today, and the banks close on Sundays. I’m sincerely working towards getting my campaign started, I’d like to apologize to you since I know you’re following The Burned.

If anyone else has more advice everything so far has been very informative, I’m sure your input will be too!

Anybody here know if I’ll need a bank account before being allowed to put my book up for preorder? I don’t have one right now but have been working towards getting one. I’d like to have my book up for preorder by the 15th but if it requires a bank account idk if I’ll be able to.

Thank you all very much, @Daniel Poort I have a cover on the way, but I’m not incredibly sure when it’ll be ready. I’m going for something simple but eye catching.

I used this site for my cover.  It is free as free gets.  Check it out.  And while you’re at it, preorder Manifesto: A Tale of Murder.

Like Allison said, work to get your social media presence up. Also, start setting up reading in your community NOW because they can sometimes take weeks or months to schedule!

Oh, and I would definitely create some sort of original cover for your work!

You’re doing great! Thank you very much for the help, any other advice would be greatly appreciated. If you have any friends here you think could help as well, please send them here!

I tend to try to balance somewhere in between. I want to seem approachable, but also like I know what I’m talking about. I have no idea if I’m actually succeeding in that, but that’s the goal!

@Allison Griner Thank you very much, I’m hoping to share my enthusiasm but exclamation points can only go so far haha. I’ve been active here for awhile but is it  better to keep my wording professional or natural?

Get your social media presence up. Even if you don’t personally have a large following, you can word of mouth it. Encourage people to like/comment/share/retweet/etc. Also, be excited! It’s contagious. The more jazzed you are about your project, the more that other people will be curious about it and check it out more. Getting involved with this community is also a huge help!

I’m looking for all the help I can get, my book The Burned will be up for pre-order soon. Any tips for what grabs people’s attention? I don’t have an incredibly large following so I’ll need all the help I can get.

If you’re feeling generous I’d appreciate if you could read through my samples and decide on whether you’d like to follow my book or not. If you’re feeling REALLY generous you might even tell all of your friends to pre-order it! (please?)
