Hey, everyone!

It’s been a crazy couple of days at my college, and the heat is relentless as always in my state at this time of year. There was so much I didn’t take into account when I moved into my dorm house and got my classes settled. I never properly prepared for the amount of time I would be away from my home daily, and usually, I’ll be gone from the morning to the evening, and even then, I will most likely go out for a bit to get some free food somewhere, attend an event, or workout. As much as I love writing and such, I believe going through with my current campaigns with the load that’s starting to settle in, I’ll get crushed by the responsibility. I hope you all who have ordered and thought about doing it in the future can understand my position, ’cause my current attention span is solely on my studies and finding a suitable job. Still, that doesn’t mean Detective Diaries will just die. Just going back to the draft phase, but hiatus mode, and probably every now and then I’ll do the video update thing I would do on Wednesdays to speak about the long path of the project. It isn’t easy getting published, which I’m sure you all know from being here, and it’s definitely not easy getting orders--marketing yourself comes into play and when I originally stumbled upon Inkshares, I believed many naive things swarming inside my head that it wouldn’t be a hard road, but in truth, it is hard. So, I’ll step away from this campaign stuff and focus on my important priorities rather than fighting an uphill battle at the moment with these orders. I don’t know when I’ll be able to continue this again, for it may take a semester, or my whole freshman year before I feel comfortable again. Scarlet will get the same treatment as Detective Diaries, so on both sides, there will be nothing new. However, don’t believe I won’t be writing still on the side and such, it’s just that I don’t have the confidence to juggle everything because I don’t want to fail. While the project is in a hiatus state, I will be having writing classes and there’s a possibility that I can work for the radio station on campus--they need writers, and that’s just another way for me to learn new things from actual professionals. Thanks for reading like always. :)

  Until next time,

  -A.J.III.

  Hello, detectives.

I wasn’t sure where the usual "Update Readers" button was when I got on some minutes ago haha! However, now that I’m here, I want to discuss the upcoming days and potential update changes. This will apply to Detective Diaries and my other book, Scarlet if you follow that book as well. Now, people should know by now that summer is pretty much over and school is coming back pretty fast. I will be moving into my dorm room at the college I’m enrolling into early Saturday morning, so I’ll need all tomorrow and even the weekend to get used to my new "home". After all, I’m only a freshman--a young guy managing all this. I was looking forward to releasing the Prologue chapter I’ve been working hard on, but I couldn’t focus on it because I had to go in for work, visit family members for gifts, and pack my stuff up. I apologize for not delivering. There may updates from now until the next week, but I wouldn’t expect it. I’m focusing on just moving in and not having too much on my plate. I will probably do some tweaks to the page before the night is up. Thanks for reading, and have a good weekend. :)

  Until next time, A.J.III.

  Hello, detectives!

Today is a great day for improvement! This update is our "Progress Update", and it’s basically to keep hope alive for the project and to make a comeback with a new air. As I stated, these updates would come with a video, and I actually just got done tweaking the video on Youtube. I’m still an amatuer at this type of stuff, and I didn’t have a script ready for you guys, but it will be alright! You can check it out here--it’s short and casual. Also, subscribe or follow me on Twitter to know when they go live exactly, that is if you’re interested.

If you’ve already seen the short video, you will know now that I’m releasing yet another chapter, but this will be coming from the final draft. It will be in 3rd-person rather than being swapped around between all the characters, a more direct message towards crime, a bit more realistic, a better presentation of Acel and the powers of the detectives, and just all around better! From the position I am in now, I’m hoping to get the chapter out tomorrow morning or late afternoon. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day.

  Sincerely, A.J.III.

  Mornin’, detectives.

Welcome to our 14th Detective Sunday! I’ve been on Inkshares for more than 14 weeks, and I’ve learned a lot in my time here. I’m making strides to be more professional, I’m working on my writing craft by reading other amazing authors on here, and I’m learning about the hardships you can face when running a pre-ordering campaign. It all seem to boil down to whether your book will be marketable or not, and that’s a heavy statement coming from me. For those who followed Detective Diaries recently, I thank you for doing so--I hope not to fail you. Over the next few weeks, there will be changes in this campaign. These said changes is me re-organizing my chapters, updating the page of Detective Diaries, changing the video I have on the page, and just simply put--being more active. If I stay active and work hard, we can reach Quill overtime, and potentially even 750 orders if the momentum flows our way. I’ve done plenty of drafts behind the scenes for this book and I can never seem to find that right formula in the intro that screams "read me!". I believe this time, with a formula of chapters between all my drafts, I can do something amazing. I’m getting that final draft feeling from these revised chapters. I will explain in a update early in the week about what chapter is coming out and the direction of the storytelling, but for now, continue to share, recommend, leave reviews, and whatever else to expose Detective Diaries--I’d appreciate it!

  Until next time, A.J.III.

  Hello, detectives.

It’s been a very long day of reaching out and informing people about Scarlet, and hopefully, all goes well with it. Despite the leaps certain projects may take before me, I want to wash away all that preemptive support they have, and work extra hard for those who enjoy what I write. However, this isn’t just about Scarlet--Detective Diaries is another treasure I hold close to my heart, and while the campaign of it is slow, there’s still hope and a chance to turn the tables. I know nothing else but "work harder" nowadays, and I promise to do so by making chapters better, changing up ideas, and discovering new ways of pulling people in.

Besides that, you, the reader--are here today for Progress Update, yeah? Well, sorry to say there won’t be a video this update, for I didn’t anticipate children to come over and be everywhere in sight. Nowhere is safe and suitable for me to be comfortable, and I realize that the only times I could do a proper video would be early in the morning or way late into the night. So, before the day of the Wednesday update, I will do the video, and have it ready for the update beforehand next time. I apologize.

Still, that doesn’t mean we aren’t gonna talk about some things! I know the beginning of the update seemed heavy, but this last part is all about good news! So, I had got a call from a family member of mine and she told me of a woman who hosts an honorary show-and-tell or sorts in our city and wanted me to come out and speak about my books. Not just one, but both of them! Teenagers, young adults, and elderly will be present from within the city to attend the event, and I’m grabbing my books and running out the door to let people know. I got business cards at the ready, and my speech (somewhat) remembered to entertain them.

Lastly, before I leave for work, I’m thinking about doing a audiobook for Detective Diaries and Scarlet. Just keep that in your minds for now.

  Until next time, A.J.III.

  Hey, guys.

This is one of those unexpected updates, but I wanted to let this side of my followers to know that I will be working both ways with Scarlet and Detective Diaries as far as updates go--so bear with me if I spam you through the pipeline or I’m late to update. Also, the schedule for Detective Diaries will be changing. We’ll keep the Detective Sunday, but like the old days when I had Wednesday as an update day is now back and alive. You could call it a..."Progress Update". I have no idea if other writers have done it, but it will basically be a video of myself talking about my progress through updates, workspace, etc, and I might even have guests to speak with me that have supported me from the beginning. These videos will most likely be taken on my camera that I use for photography, or in vlog form from my cellphone. Either way, it’s happening! So, tomorrow we starting this off, so please check it out!

  Until next time, A.J.III.

Hey, guys!

My next project, Scarlet, is up and ready to take on the Geek & Sundry Fantasy Contest! Please, go follow the book and check out the description of it! Let’s make it in the top 3!      https://www.inkshares.com/books/scarlet

Yours truly, A.J.III.

Hey, readers.

This is another late update, please bear with me. Still, welcome to our 13th Detective Monday..haha? On a serious note, I was swamped all yesterday and wasn’t even home. I just now had the time this afternoon to make this update, so I’m kinda tired; however, that won’t stop me from letting you guys know how Detective Diaries is going. There are two important things I want to discuss concerning the campaign, so please read carefully.

To start off the update, I want to speak about the deadline extension Detective Diaries will be getting. The deadline will be extended to November 10th because of personal problems happening lately that really needs my attention for a while, and the fact that I’m currently managing Detective Diaries with a contest book called Lost Garden with another writer. Now, Lost Garden is for the 2016 Manuscript Competition, so I will only need 50 pages for that and we’re about 1/3 done, but it doesn’t stop there. I have a book I’ve already completed but has been collecting dust over the years, and I’m deciding to enter it into the newest contest called the Geek & Sundry Fantasy Contest. Now, this seems like plenty of stuff to juggle judging by the fact that I need a deadline extension, but the load for the contest books isn’t gonna hurt my time. I’d appreciate support on the Fantasy contest book if you guys are interested in that.

Lastly, I will not go dark on you guys for the progress on Detective Diaries, so I’ve decided that I will need to improvise and let you guys see into my workplace. So, the updates to come will feature pictures of development and potentially vlogs for the project

That’s all for now.

Until next time!

Yo, readers!

As I said earlier, there would be a late update today. So, officially, I welcome you to our 12th Detective Sunday by yours truly. Technology can be a hassle to deal with when you got plans set out for you, so I apologize for the hold up. Now, I hope everyone’s doing alright these days, and I also hope you’re enjoying your summer because it’s slowly coming to an end. I’ve been staying in the most of my summer, and that’s mostly because I’m writing or chatting up with friends I’ve known for years but are way too distant for me to spend time with them. Anyways, I’m shying away from the purpose of this update. Let’s jump into it.

First, I want to mention that there will be a spike in orders this upcoming week. The majority of these orders are coming from family members or friends, and the desired goal I have is somewhere around 30-40 orders. It’s a nice jump from where we are now, and it can be very well possible if you guys assist me as well. Help make the load easier by contributing, and those of you who are writers are open to PM about anything as far as trades go.

Next up, the 2016 LaunchPad Manuscript Competition. Now, this all really just came out of the blue and I was rather intrigued by it because it’s different from the other competitions. I couldn’t join the others because I either wasn’t here at the time or my books didn’t fit the category. This competition doesn’t seem to have specific genres, and I’m a competitive guy, so I see no problem with going through with it. I was debating on using an old project of mine called Rewind, or possibly the new idea I’ve been dreaming about called Changing Seasons. Rewind is about a highschool boy in his senior year that has the power to wind back time for a split-second in order to correct specific errors. The power was bestowed upon him when he lost his parents in a wreck, and ever since, he’s been using his power to save lives; however, when he transfers to a new school, he couldn’t save a particular girl from death and struggles with keeping her alive after saving her because a much darker force is after her. It turns into a much bigger story when he learns of how he got the power and the effects of abusing time. Changing Seasons is a collection of short stories that spans over seasons. I’m debating about how many stories, but a few heart-to-heart sequences that I came up with involves an immortal living in a village alone, but watching over the deceased, or a sacrifice going on a pilgrimage and coming to the end which results in death in order to keep the world stable. Either way, I will have the opportunity to work on my writing and challenge myself against fellow writers who are very skilled.

Sooo that’s about it for this update. Once again, sorry for the late update, and have a good rest if it’s night for you as well, or good morning when you read it the next day!

Until next time, A.J.III.

Hey, readers.

The official Sunday update will be tonight hopefully, or tomorrow morning. I’ve run into some problems with my computer and can’t update properly, so I’m doing all of this from my phone. Please, look forward to it because there is much to discuss.

Until then, A.J.III.
